well, tech no, bc that is what the cabel box is doing. If you are using one to avoid paying for premium channels, yes it is illegal. I know it used to be common practice for the whole street to run off one or two ppl paying for the cable, but not so anymore. If you do so, do not have it hooked up when having cable out for repairs and dont let your neighbors know.

No they are not legal. Many cable companies can now tell if you have one and they will probably come knocking on your door.

They are legal, as long as you aren't uising one to cheat the cable company out of legitimate subscription revenue.
