What recommendations are there if you could only go one time. We are looking for an all-inclusive, couples only, access to private beaches, a solid nightlife, and...of course, a great price. In a perfect world, we'd have nice private beaches to lay on, but enough activities (snorkling, hiking, bike riding) available. I'm not looking for Julie McCoy to keep bothering us with "Volleyball in 20 minutes". We do like to get liquored up, so a party scene would be good, too. With the knowlege we may not be able to have everything on our list, this is a start. This would be in December 2008. Muchas Gracias.

Norwegian Cruise Line is my favorite. A tour of the southern Caribbean including Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas would be enjoyable.
If you like snorkeling, just purchase tickets from the consignor desk. Never take a tour that is not planned by the cruise ship. You will be over charged, and the cruise guided tours guarantee your safety.
Have fun

I've been to the Dominican Republic recently at the Talanquera Hotel, its got almost everything you want a nice quite beach just outside the hotel, all inclusive, lots to do, the snorkling was great . There is a few other hotels i the Juan Dolio region which are really good. The only thing is the Volleyball guy and sellers. you get them all over the Dominican. A firm no thank you does the trick though. (they are really nice though when you chat to them).

Try this site: iBtraveling.com. I usually find a good deal there because you can compare lots of deals online from cruises to resorts, to all inclusives. I'm sure any island will be nice. Westin Hotel on St. John is awesome and when you want the party life, head to St. Thomas by ferry for a 15 min. cruise. St. John is the most beautiful of all the islands I've been on. Wish you fun!

I would suggest one of the Sandals all-inclusive Hotels in Jamaica. Its a couples only resorts with everything included. Water activities and lessons, everything you can think of BUT call 1800-SANDALS and tell them you are coming so they can send you a video and brochure before you go. My favorite was Sandals Ocho Rios and the smaller sandals in Ocho Rios. Negril has alot of water sports. You can make reservations to have dinner at any of the Sandals and see another part of the island (free of course, everything is) and no tipping. The Sandals hotel chain are now found on many other islands besides Jamaica. St.Lucia has a gorgeous one too.

Try traveladvisor. There, they have the opinions of others who have gone to these places recently. I think you'll find it helpful. We really enjoy Sandals Negril, we go back every year. Drinks are great and plentiful, scuba and snorkeling also great. Many restaurants to choose from. If you get a good room, you'll have a full bar in it.
Remember when you get there that, your now on Jamaican time. Slow down, relax, no problem mon.

I think a cruise would be your best bet. Royal Caribbean has great Caribbean itineraries, and lots of onboard activities. If it has to be an AI resort go with sandals, they get great reviews, especially the ones in Jamaica and St Lucia. Don't do superclubs, they're hit or miss.

If it was me I would forget the all inclusive and go for a beach house or apartment rental in Jost Van Dyke. Check it out online.

But if you must do an all inclusive, check out the Dominican Republic for the largest variety (and best value) in the Caribbean

i don't know if you have thought about a cruise, but it would offer everything you are talking about....it's all inclusive, except for excursions and you can prepay those if you want to....there are excursions to private beaches at some stops, but definately a beach at each one....there are avtivities on and off the ship....and there are several different type of clubs on the ship to offer night life to all different types of people....my husband and i went on a 7 day cruise on the carnival conquest and it was awesome, but they start at 3 days and go up to like 14 days so there are lots of options. good luck finding the trip of your dreams and have fun!

I have been to the West Indies and Sandals resorts are all inclusive so you can drink and eat all you want. There is no set schedule you make your own...cost wise I don't know I went many years ago but I would think it would work for you. Turn up the romance bigtime if this is your first...ENJOY yourselves!
