He told The Truth

The Romans disliked him for shooting off his big yapper that he was more powerful that the Emperor .
The Jews disliked him for claiming that he was the messiah that they were all waiting for .
I don't know what you did to be sentenced to the cross . You must live in a very strange place ,if they're still crucifying people , but I'm sure Jesus isn't taking your place . His place-taking days ended two thousand years ago .

Here's something to consider....just consider.
Had a Catholic education but, have since become devoutly agnostic ,though I accept, that there was a great man named Jesus.
Even the early "church" was divided as to his being divine or not.
I put considerable thought into my decision & came up with this question .
Basically this (short version)... why would "God" allow himself (or his son )to be crucified for our sins?.
Why not just intervene & say OK no more sin.
Jesus was more of a politcal problem for the Romans & seen as a threat mainly by a small group of religious leaders which lead to his execution.
Seems like a long way to go to "save " things as insignificant as us .
To the point of the question.... I do not believe that Jesus himself is hated.
What is hated & hateful are the things that have been done in his name by people who claim to know what is in the mind of God .
Read the bible or not, but understand that it is probably one
of the most edited, expurgated , abridged pieces of work ever written (by men).
Being agnostic just means "I do not know" as opposed to thos who claim to "Know " without having made any effort to "know " all they can.
Based on my personal efforts to at least look for some truth , am very comfortable in my conviction that Jesus would not be pleased by what is done in his name by "Christians".

Jesus acted in a way that showed up hypocrisy in the religious leaders of that day. They didn't like their true colors being shown and they hated him for that.

Today, people hate Jesus' followers for the truth they teach and that their way of life (though not perfect), shows THEM up as hypocrites (claiming to follow Jesus but not following his teachings).

Satan the ruler of the world, and anyone not living according to HIS rules will be hated by the world. (i.e if you are not hated for following Jesus, then you are not REALLY following him!!!)- 1 John 5:19, Matt. 10:22; 24:9, John 15:19

Jesus was loved by many people and was very popular. People in higher places did not like this and feared that Jesus was becoming more loved then them, So they crucified Jesus and nailed him to a cross!

He preached a religion which has his "Holy Father" as the head of his religion, and preached it to Jews and Romans. During that time, Judaism and Roman paganism were the dominant religions. Even today, one can get in serious trouble when preaching a virtually unknown religion.

And how ironic, isn't it? Jesus' religion became popular, thank to Constantine and the Romans 300 years after his death.

There are not a lot of people who really hate Jesus.
What a lot of people resent is that a lot of Christians (maybe not most) use their religion to condemn others under the guise of humbly following their faith.

Nothing.

People today don't "hate" Jesus. It's pointless to hate someone who's been dead for two millenia.

It is, however, quite reasonable to be skeptical of his modern followers...particularly the evangelistic, fundamentalist types. How this gets translated as "hate" is beyond me.

I also frequently get annoyed by those types who try to force their religious ideas into law of science classes. The aggressive efforts to spread ignorance as if it were some kind of virtue is repulsive to me. That's about as close as I get to "hate".

You misunderstand the position that many of us hold. We simply do not believe that if he ever existed that he was the Son of a God. What most of us hate is ignorance and hypocrisy.

He challenged and defeated the spirit of this world by His humility and sacrifice,we have to remember though that this same spirit is still in many people who have not accepted Jesus yet and so they cannot understand Him.
