I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I say "yes" we are Christ's restored church on the earth. I didn't find this out from any person. I read the NT and the Book for Mormon and I had the missionary discussions. Then I took all of that information and prayed to God to let me know if the church is His church on the earth today.

If you, or anyone, wants to know if it is Christ's church I would suggest that you do the steps that I took. If you are unwilling to take those steps (read the Book of Mormon, have the missionary lessons, and pray with an open mind and heart for His answer) you really don't want to know.

Someone mentioned Martin Harris. He was rebaptized into the LDS church in 1842

Yahoo! Answers is really not the best place to ask this question. You should study the Mormon message from reliable sources written by practicing Mormons, and then you should ask God if it is true. Here's what Mormons believe:

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Mormons believe their church is true because it is restored Christianity; the modern LDS (Mormon) Church is the same church that Jesus Christ established 2000 years ago. That having been said, we also believe that there is some truth in all religions. In a statement made by the first presidency (world-wide Mormon leaders) in 1978, the Church proclaimed: "The great religious leaders of the world such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God's light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals."

So while affirming our restorationist message (while affirming that we are the same true church of Christ that existed anciently), we also refrain from bashing other religions that also have much truth. We do not believe that Mormons have a monopoly on theological truth.

Hope this helps. If you'd like to learn more about Mormonism, visit my site at http://www.allaboutmormons.com .

Naturally, we believe it is, at least, it's the RESTORED church of Jesus Christ, almost exactly like He started it.

And naturally, others will say it's not.

You just have to decide for yourself.

I think the Shakers are the one true church. Martin Harris became a Shaker you know after he left the Mormon church and said that his testimony of Shakerism was "greater than it was of the Book of Mormon."

Any church that claims to be the ONLY church, IS NOT!!

There isn't a single CHURCH, as in building of people, that is the one true church.

The TRUE CHURCH are those that are followers of the one and only Jesus Christ. Those who do as Jesus instructs in the Bible. THE TRUE CHURCH can come from a variety of different denominations.

Only mormons would say yes, because why wouldnt you be mormon if you said yes?

That being said, noone on here that calls mormons a cult or wrong, or evil, blah blah blah, has any more authority to declare truth or to say they are right and mormons are wrong. I dont understand why people cant step outside their own little worlds to see that every argument they have against mormons can be turned on them in some form. Christianity at its core beliefs sound insane to anyone hearing them for the first time. A man who is really God is born to a virgin and claims that his blood can save the world. Any you people mock mormons?

Now excuse me, as a mormon I must go sacrifice my first born on my horned shaped altar and then take my daily dose of brainwashing medicine.

(lets ignore that mormons highly stress education, esp college education, and that we are taught as children to ask and question what we are taught and gain our own testimonies and never rely on the testimony of another, but ok I am a brainwashed cult member that cant reason or think for myself)

The Holy Spirit of the Holy Bible lets me know in my spirit that the Mormon book isn't inspired by God. It is inspired by familiar spirits or fallen angels. Because it contradicts the foundational teaching of Jesus Christ of Nazareth & the biblical Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

So? They have a different Jesus & a different gospel & have familiar spirits for their Holy Ghost.

You just need to get some books about Mormonism found in any Christian book store. And there are web sites that clarify the differences.

One is they baptize for the dead & state the verse in the bible that writes about this to excuse it. The people in the bible who baptized for the dead weren't even born again Christians. They didn't believe in the resurrection. They were a cult. Just one example.

It appears that everyone who has answered is in agreement. They are a cult.
They even have branches "The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints" states that they are REALLY the only true church.
There is no church that can save you or anyone else. The only thing that can save you is the blood of the Lord Jesus. Do not be deceived by those that make false claims.

They would have you believe so and will die saying they are.

However, if you look at their true history and foundations and not just the parts the leaders suggest you read, then you will find a lot of flaws and deceptions.
