ok, i know a little bit about cars, and i owned previously a 350Z and mustang, so im into the sporty cars. I'm due for a new car now, and i'm not sure what to get. I'm looking for a reasonably priced car, used, that is kinda fast, but somewhat fuel efficient, and also MUST LOOK GOOD. I was thinkin about the mazda rx8, but i was told it isnt that feul efficient. any suggestions?

If you are looking for fuel efficiency look at the size of the motor in the car you are looking at. Consider a BMW 323 not 330 or the 525, not the 530, 535 or 540.

It is hard to do fuel efficieny AND sporty. You sound a bit like me actually... I'd consider another Z or another Mustang, the mileage isn't that bad with those - take a look and see what these little sporty cars actually get for mileage- most do not break 30 mpg EVER. I'd rather get 20 in a V8 Mustang or a 350Z than 28 in a 4cyl Honda, Acura, toyota, _______Fill in the blank mobile.

Consider this: Calculate how much you drive. Figure out how much you'd spend on gas with say 20 mpg vs. 30 mpg. The results may surprise you. Unless you drive a lot, you may find that you would be cheaper to by another v8 mustang at a lower price than a more expensive acura that gets better mileage depending how much you drive.

For example I got a low priced Chevy suburban for my wife because she doesn't drive much and even with the bad gas mileage it is far cheaper than buying a newer Japanese SUV that gets better mileage. We are talking MUCH MUCH cheaper hundreds per month cheaper!!

You might say to yourself "but I want to be environmentally friendly". Consider that whatever used car you are looking at (my suburban for example) is going to be driven into the ground by somebody, might as well be you! If you are buying a new car, however, you do subtly influence which cars get produced so go ahead and "do the right thing". But buying used, do the right thing for your pocket book!

Something to think about

Go for a Mitsubishi or Honda/Toyota. Those cars are generally fuel efficient and reliable. Cause there from Japan.

But if your really into looks you should go with a Lexus or Infinite. Those are fuel efficent, look good and are also reliable. Lexus's are from Japan, but I'm not sure about the Infinite.

Have you considered looking into a Ford Fusion?
They're not exactly as "sporty" looking as a mustang or a corvette. But they're pretty sharp looking. Not to mention they're pretty good on fuel efficiency.

In 1986 I bought a Chevrolet Camaro V6 that was sporty, got 30 mpg on the freeway, and was fairly quick. You will want a newer one than that--just one idea for you to ponder.

so you're looking for a brand new car? I'd suggest looking at what GM has to offer, along with the other U.S. automakers. their quality has improved greatly over the past 10 years, and are now right up to par w/ the japanese automakers.
