Maybe an hour a day, but that's only if given the opportunity to watch two shows. The AAP advises no tv before age 2.

Everything I've read has said that kids shouldn't watch tv until the age of two. However my 19 month old has a few cartoons that will catch his interest for a few min. at a time. He mostly pays attention whenever he hears music. I don't think he's old enough to sit and watch mostly beacuse he's not able to understand the concepts of the shows. When he is old enough, I think one to two programs a day are plenty. Kids should be outside playing and using their imaginations.

Less than an hour. she watches Sesame Street while I get ready for work (just the 2nd half) and she watches a half hour of the wiggles when she gets to her grandma's. that is it and that is only three days each week. daycare days she does not watch any TV (we don't watch TV in the evenings). Weekends we watch maybe an hour or so in the morning when we get up (Disney channel) Other than that, no TV.

At 18 months old, my daughter watched Dora, and Backyardigans, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. They were both watched with me (or my husband) in the room, and we would comment on what we saw, and have her interact. She is 2 now and still only watches an hour a day of supervised TV.

My son isn't born yet, but I really don't want him to watch tv until he's 2 and his choices will be limited lol. I know that sounds strict but that's just the way it is and there are so many other fun things he can do while using his imagination. If I change my mind it'll be 1-3 hrs a week, but only educational shows (animal planet, discovery channel, pbs) or some nice cartoons =] hope this helps!

Grandson is close to that age and rarely watches tv at all. He is very active and only watches it if he is very tired at which point he will sit still for about 5 minutes or less and kinda stare until he falls asleep.

at 1yr old my daughter watched a good bit of tv, shes 20 months now, and now she can live with out it. They get too active to just sit. She'll watch before nap and before bed time... if she wants to watch it during the day i let her...
shes active and healty and isnt addicted even though i let her watch when she wants. shes also learned a good bit when she did watch it a lot when she was more of a baby.
just trust your own judgement.

the only adversities are what infants watch and how lots television time they have. sure, there are alot of academic vids and classes yet they are no longer a substitution for one on one time to improve his studying, motor, communique skills. some analyze have shown that no televesion has harbored infants from human interplay. At his age all he sees is colours & circulation & hears funky & humorous sounds that flatter this "element in front of me", which peaks his interest yet undergo in techniques that the television isn't a inbuilt babysitter, which i'm effective you already understand. Autism has no longer been linked to television to this factor.
