my husband is on a low salt diet trying to find a few snacks he can have that wont be high in salt we were wondering if anyone knows if unsalted nuts like walnut penuts and so forth would be bad for him

no theres no sodium in unsalted nuts -

something I find nice and healthy and we have instead of chocolate at xmas now is a mix of :

shelled Brazil nuts
shelled walnuts
shelled any other nuts you like pecan eg
liquorice cuts
dried apricots
dried banana slices
dried prunes
dried mango
dried pinapple
dried coconut
stoned dates
mix then all together and pick away its yummy and healthy !!

I look specifically for nuts in a jar that are dry roasted and unsalted. No oil, no salt. Look around the store shelf for them or try another store that carries them.

Make sure that neither of you have a peanut allergy.

Also, this time of the year, many stores sell nuts in the shell. Not roasted or salted. And you can spend time cracking them as you eat.

Unsalted walnuts and almonds will be fine. We buy nuts in the shell and crack them. Because the process is time consuming, you dont eat as many of them and thus keep the calories down.
