I've always been partial to ponytails but I do admit that most people look more professional with a short haircut. If you are going to get it cut, make sure you go to a good place and not clip n' snip or some such. With such a drastic change, someone can **** it up pretty easily.

Might I also suggest going to an eyebrow waxer. Tell them to just get the middle and a few of the stray hairs. Brow waxing isn't necessarily just for women. I live in a decent sized city and it only costs me about 8 dollars.

Although I do like long hair on guys. Sometimes the style gets old. You might want to try a shoulder length style before going full blown clean cut , just in case you don't like the short style. That way it won't take as long to grow back. If you go shoulder length and you feel comfortable then go shorter the next time you get a cut. What the heck it's only hair and it'll grow back...and you'll look fabulous regardless of the length of your hair... : )

Personally, I think the era of ponytails on guys has passed. Either get famous as an artist and wear it anyway you want to or get a haircut and look like a 21st century human being.

That will depends on your feature. Not all man look good in ponytail. just like not all man look good with moustach or beard.Some man with moustach/beard look so haggard , dirty ...like begger.Some man with good feature,look sexy with moustach.
Unless,you have very strong manly features and outstanding characters, ...if not I would suggested a 2nd opinion,
It's best to discuss with a experienced hairdresser for professional advice. Or perhaps you can put previous photo (short hair)and present online ,get your friend to compare/give you more opinion which one look better. if 8 out 10 say "cut" then cut. Eventually , the decision is yours!
By the way, a pc of advice, girls are normally more attracted to guy who is neat and clean (so if you intend to keep your ponytail) ,personally,I would suggested that you need to spend more time on maintaining the good look(i.e. grooming/trimming to avoid fizzy, spilts end....etc. )

Possibly, but I can't say from that picture. I'd have to see your side profile, too. Some guys can do ponytails and look absolutely scorching (ala Viggo Mortensen), while others should never try it. The most important thing is how YOU think you look. If you think it would suit you, you will carry yourself differently and people will notice.

I question your motive: you've opened up this question for the world to answer for you, certainly. But have you taken a look at what you want? Why did you grow your hair out? Do you have a specific reason for cutting it (donation, etc.)? Do you want it short, or are you more comfortable with long hair?
Keep in mind that you can grow short hair out again, if you don't like it.

I'm not usually into guys with long hair, but you look pretty good with it long... but I also think you'd look pretty good with short hair too.. I recommend talking to a stylist, just schedule a consultation and get some suggestions bc they tend to have really good ideas and better judgment about this sort of thing.

Yes, I'd agree with that sentiment. Personally, I'm not mad into pony tails on men - I much prefer a man with a nice short haircut.
