Car started as usual then the RPM went up-down 700-1400 for about 60 seconds then ok rest of day. That was yesterday. Today started ok. What was going on? Got to travel with that car in a couple of weeks.

Sounds like a faulty idle speed controler that is controled by the engine computer. Here is the problem a shorted Idle Speed Control will short out a circuit in the engine control. If you can get the car checked before the trip. Nissan dealer technicians need work too!

this is not an answer yet greater question on the region. in simple terms FYI, I actual have a ninety seven maxima that doesn't crank once I turn the main. I pay attention relays clicking in spite of the undeniable fact that it won't crank. i will get it to start if I save turning the main on and off. sounds like the automatic choke was on because it was 40f outside, if you let the temp gauge get to normal temp it should be fine, before taking off
