Golden rule: "Do for others what you would have them do for you."

Silver rule: "Don't do to others what you wouldn't want them to do to you."

Which would you say is more important to humanity, and why?

The Golden Rule is how you tell others how you want to be treated. The Silver Rule is how you tell others what you don't want done to you. Both are mere starting points. More important than either is the Platinum Rule: "Do unto others as they would have you do unto them." It's hard to do this for those who don't practice the Golden Rule, of course.

The Golden Rule because if you are doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, you are following the Silver Rule as well.

Treating others like you want to be treated leaves out no one. To treat everyone with kindness and love is much better for you, for the person and for society as a whole. To wait and do nothing is cold and will make no one happy with you or with themselves. No man is an island and cannot live within himself alone.

When you make others happy, you make yourself happy, so why not be happy.

Pangloss said it better than I did. When you do the Golden Rule, you do both. The Golden Rule includes treating others right.

I don't either are so grand because people have different preferences. One person might want something done to them that others may not want. If I had to choose one I would choose the golden rule because promotes generosity more.

The very smart Jewish Rabbi Hillel become as quickly as challenged via a stranger from an strange land (colorations of Robert Heinlein!) who stated that he might convert to Judaism if Rabbi Hillel ought to recite the comprehensive Torah status on one leg. So the forged Rabbi stood on one leg and stated, "That it somewhat is hateful to you, do no longer do to a distinctive. it somewhat is the Torah, all else is remark". it somewhat is the "Silver Rule". The stranger switched over. for my section, I want that to the Golden Rule, it somewhat is slightly imprecise in assessment. Taken at the same time, regardless of the undeniable fact that, they're encompassed in Matthew 22:37-40, "Love "god" with thy total coronary heart, thy total power, and thy total innovations. Love your neighbor as your self. it somewhat is the regulation and the Prophets". I agree that I do additionally like "David" on the Iron Rule. all the great conquerors of historic past have practiced the Iron Rule. The have governed via the sword (or the superb firepower in recent times). The "Pax Romana become a classic occasion of the Iron Rule. reward on your journey!

Or the gold-press latinum rule: Never violate the prime directive, unless you can turn a profit, in which case the Ferengi council will overlook the transgression.

The golden rule is more productive. It sounds like "you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back". The silver rule sounds like "don't scratch my back so I won't scratch yours". That's poor company politics.

They are equivalent statements, so neither one is better than the other. They both mean the same thing, but one is phrased using negatives, and the other is phrased using positives.

They're the same basic rule.
