I am considering having some tooth implants, but I react to certain metals in regards to wearing jewlery. I am wondering if this might cause a negative reaction to the implants.

Mine went very well. I had so many problems with my root canal, I was relieved to have my implant go so well.

It has been 4 years.

The post is made of titanium. I have severe metal allergies to nickel jewelry (itchy bumps and swollen earlobes), so I was very worried about the implant, but it has been all good so far.

It also does not set off any metal detectors at the airport --- which was another worry of mine!

Hope this helps.

Presently I have a spot on the inside of my cheek that becomes rough and red. It is adjacent to the tooth implant. It feels similar to having left a piece of candy in my mouth all night and waking up to have a funny, fuzzy feeling where it rested all night. At the end of the day this fuzziness goes to other spots in my mouth. I brush several times a day with an electric toothbrush to hopefully get the scum, or whatever it is that is happening in my mouth. The tooth on top of the implant has been in place for approx. 6 months. My regular dentist finds nothing unusual when he looks at the big red spot that is irritated (not sore) but funny feeling on my cheek. I feel like I am having a negative reaction to the tooth implant. Any help?

implants are made of titanium they are extremely biocompatible, you shouldn't have a problem. The problem from earings etc is likely due to a nickel allergy
