It would bother me, but that's why I'm not putting any of my future kids in daycare. However, it's difficult to not be affectionate with babies if you're surrounded by them all day!
Anyway, I don't see a problem with it for you, children should have affection, and 8 or 12 hours of no love could damage the child.

I worked in day care for a while, too and I felt bad for those kids that would come at opening and be the last ones to leave at close. I felt completely comfortable being affectionate with them. On the other hand, this is also one reason why I don't ever plan on putting my children in daycare. Kids do need that kind of a attention and I want to be the one giving it.
Good topic!

I have done daycare and I am now currently a nanny. I have always been loving to the children. I have never had a complaint that we were too close to the kids. Personally, I feel that made the moms more comfortable that we treated the kids as our own. The children spend more time with us then their own family on the weekdays. Wouldn't you want your child to love their provider like that?

It would not bother me because then I feel like the babysitter is treating my child like one of there own. If I thought they were not showing affection to my child then that would offend me. Alot of parents do have to work and do rely on other people to help mold there children which is why you want to be particular about who you choose. I would not want a non affectionate person. That is my views for my daughter.

I do daycare and I treat my kids like they're my own.. they get tons of hugs and kisses. I don't think I'd be bothered by someone who was genuinely affectionate to my baby. I would be bothered if it appeared to be for show or something.

As long as it's a woman. I have daughter and if it was a man treating like you are describing, I'd have one hella problem.
A woman, Im good. My daughter has been at the place since she was 6 months, and she is going on 4, everyone knows and loves her, and they treat her like their own, she must give her teacher a hug (and all her "girlfriends" hugs) before she leaves, and that's cool with me. I think I'd be worried if this didn't happen.
Affecition shows you care, as long as it's the right kind of affection.

As long as you're not with a cold, it wouldn't bother me. I felt more at ease leaving my kiddies knowing that they were in a loving environment. We're social beings so we need the affection to grow mentally healthy. However, as a preschool teacher myself, I show my affection to the children but don't overdo it in front of the parents; if anything, I wouldn't want them to feel jealous (I did at times).

no, it wouldn't bother me. Kids need love and affection and to know that a babysitter will do this would actually be comforting to me. At least I would know they are good people and actually care about the kids.

What? Would you rather they be yelled and screamed at, then locked in a closet?
What's wrong with a little affection?
