A garage. Or, there's this herbal thing called valerian drops, only it makes the cats CRAZY, so if you hate a nosy old neighbor with a cat....

I have the same problem. No garage, so my new car is fair game to every cat in the neighborhood, including my own. My husband suggested getting a car cover, which is a good idea except for when it's raining. Who wants to get soaked trying to get the thing off/on and where do you put it while its wet? Can't throw it in the car dripping wet.
If you wax the car and make it slick, the cat will try to hold on by digging in with their claws, leaving scratches instead of pawprints. The hood of the car I traded in was COVERED with cat scratches.
Somebody told me to set up mouse traps all over the hood, but what if one of the cats gets a foot caught? I just can't do that. I want them off the car, but not hurt them.
Guess I'll probably go with the cover, even if it is a pain in the a ss.

The BEST way to keep cats from walking on your car is to put your car into a 'sealed bag' every night ... but since they don't make zipper locked bags quite that large, I suggest that you hang your mothballs around the 'openings' the cats can get through into your garage. Cats don't like the 'smell' of mothballs, and they can't 'smell prey' so they try to stay away from them. As for WHY your car is getting walked on ... evidently it is retaining some heat after you come home ... so another 'trick' you can try is to put a fan that moves back and forth into the garage and point that at your car ... cat's don't like getting 'blown' by fans, either, and that may eventually keep them off your car.

Could try a car cover for a while to break the routine. Maybe try a plastic sheet, or vinyl table cloth. Something that makes noise when they jump up. Waxing might help, but they are pretty agile. Stay up once or twice and use a squirt bottle or the hose or even coins in a can to scare him away. He would get the message.

I know someone who lives in an apartment. They purchased an automobile cover. O'Reilly's, Napa, and other car parts stores sell them. They start at about $50.00 or you can search Ebay for a used or cheaper one.
The last alternative is to rent or purchase a Have-A-Heart Live Animal Trap, catch the animal, and take it to the Humane Society for adoption because it is not living well by living outside anyway.

A car cover might do thr trick.
If that dont work talk to the owners of the cat...if the cat is actuallyscratching your paint job.
Otherwise....why worry about it, unless you have a convertible.

Cats hate certain smells, one being sharp sour apple. There are others. you might just soak a rag and put it on the hood. They also hate tinfoil, so you can make a big sheet of that and put it over your hood. They'll stay off.
The shotgun thing is a good idea too.

not much you can do other than park it elsewhere or maybe a car cover then at least you won't have paw prints but you'd have to cover it every night
