remember studying the ancient greeks and indians? they had a god for sun, fire, water, agriculture..ect. the used this to explain the unexplained. a little after that time.. the relgion of jesus christ came about. the used this to explain why we're here on this earth. so simply, we came to know that there is no god of water. furthermore.. there is no god? science proved that clouds are in the sky.. and the earth has a core with lava.. so there is simply no god?

You're right, technology surges ahead while the mass of humanity remains ignorant, foolish and dangerously irresponsible when it comes to the use of that technology.

In movies the moment when aliens are encountered is such a transcendent moment (I just watched Abyss) but I really hope it doesn't come while a majority of the world are still so ignorant and superstitious. Religion is an embarrassment to the human race.

The Old Testament describes a nuclear bomb for the last days. Not having ever seen one, the translators say simply that in the last days there will be pillars of smoke, but that is not a true rendering of the Hebrew. Rather, the Hebrew indicates a "puff" sitting on top of a "column", kinda like a mushroom, ya know?

The New Testament talks about how in the last days the powers of uranium will be shaken. Again, the translators, not understanding, translated this to "heavens", but the original greek word is "Uranimos", so you read "The powers of heaven shall be shaken, and the elements themselves will melt with a fervent heat."

I could go on and on, but these two examples should suffice.

So, what's that you're saying about how religion is behind the times, and technology is - what???

Remember these were written long before atomic energy or the modern technology era!

In fact, the Bible describes the spherical nature of the earth, when "modern" science thought the earth was like a giant flat pancake on the back of a giant elephant, being carried around on the back of a giant turtle, or some such nonsense!

The Bible isn't a science textbook, but it IS accurate when it DOES touch upon science. Mostly, it's a book of the historical chronicles of the origin of man, and especially the origin and history of the nation of Israel.

Even such places as "Ur", where Abraham was born, was found by archeologists!

So, you see, the Bible is accurate, and what it says about God is ALSO accurate.

The image of God must be improved, or put in a better focus, as we advance technologically. The spiritual dimension will continue to exist, and science will never have the instruments to reach and explain it. But those of us with sharp spiritual senses, sharpened though meditation/prayer, mind-body exercises, a proper diet, and not over indulging, will have to come up with better and more effective spiritual ideas, to make a difference, in how we solve the moral and other problems, brought on by this technology
