Does a CD burner have to go through a computor?

Can a CD burner be hooked to a stereo system to burn CDs like you hook up a cassette deck to record tapes? So far afew peple I've asked have said they don't think so, you have to download music onto your computor, then burn it onto a CD.

its impossible they use differnt connections u can buy cd duplicators but not a pc burner they use 1 big cable called a i.d.e cable
