I am a Pagan from Indiana...and 2 men came up to my front door a little bit ago. I thought it was a couple of my friend's, so as soon as I opened the door I said "No company today guys, sorry" and it wasn't them! LOL

It was 2 Christian men that brought us a battery for our smoke detector! He say "Heres a battery for your smoke detector. Its time to change them. Also, heres a brochure about our church. You don't have to keep it if you don't want to."
I said "Thank you!!!" and shut the door. There was no preaching, no proselytizing, just good old fashion "neighboring ".

I am very happy they came to my house today though because I completely forgot that I needed to change the battery in my smoke detector! We don't have a lot of money as it is, so this was really nice of them to do this!

Why can't more Christians do more things like THIS, instead of preaching every time they come knocking on your door?

Fantastic idea I am glad they are doing that the proper way. I am also happy that you handled it in a gracious manner many others would have said no to the battery and some would have probably thrown it at them. You are a kind and considerate person.

by the way thanks for the reminder mine needs changed too.

You never know you may have even saved a life with this question.

That is what we are supposed to do - then the message becomes real, doesn't it?
Our church had "trunk ot treat" Wednesday night - over 200 cars giving candy to kids out of the trunks of their cars in our parking lot - games, live music, rides and food. We had 10,000 people show up - it was wonderful. I cannot help but believe that people love our church and may come back...
There may be more of this practical stuff going on than you realize - I hope so.

Thank you so much for your question, I love it. This is what I believe door to door preaching is all about. I can imagine if Jesus were going door to door He would ask what we needed. What a wonderful blessing you had today. Just shows you how much God loves and cares about you, even your battery! This is just how He is and this is how I want to express His love to others. He cares about everything in our life, everything. I am so excited right now, I could dance for joy. Thank you for taking the time to write this out. You have blessed me today. See, even He is using YOU to touch my life.

I agree. If more of them would approach us differently, we may take more attention to it. I dont like anyone preaching to me...but i DO like people that want to help or show concern for me or my family. That, to me, is how a true christian should be. A problem Ive seen, is...Ive come across so many, so called christians where I live, that claim to be a real good christian, but they are rude and nasty to everyone. Thats NOT a true christian.*

Yeah. I know what you mean. If all Christians gave away batteries the world would totally be a better place.

That's the way Christians are supposed to act, not preachy like people have the perception of. We are supposed to show Gods love and thus God will work through the people. I'm glad that you have experienced this.

I completely agree with you. My Christian church is just like that too. It's a great way to witness. God bless.
