I keep hearing all of this talk about 2012 being like the end of the world or something about it being judgement day in the bible. I don't know if its true(well no one does) but where are all of the rumors coming from?

Alright, there are a number of places the whole idea has came from. One is the Mayan Calendar, which is known by most. The Calendar is actually made up of multiple calendars, but one specifically (The Long Count), ends on December 21, 2012. Some believe it could be on the 22nd or 23rd also, but that's due to scientific "updates" of the calendar or something, I"m not exactly sure, so I stick with the 21st.

The doomsday prophecy has also came from other places: The Hopi and Cherokee Indians, Egyptians, Nostradamus (as explained in The Lost Book of Nostradamus, which aired last Sunday on the History Channel), ancient chinese, and... I believe that's all, unless I'm forgetting others. Long story short, they all point to an alignment that will take place on 12/21/2012. On this date, the Sun, Earth, and the black hole in the center of our galaxy will be in perfect alignment. This happen every 13,000 years. When was the last time it happened? Approximately 13,000 years ago, so we're due for it again. What makes this time different is that the Earth's Magnetic Field will also reverse at the exact time of the alignment, though if that itself does anything, I don't know. What I do know, is that the Earth's inner core rotates with respect to the moon. It takes 27.3 days to complete one more rotation compared to the Earth, the same time it takes the moon to revolve around the Earth. When Earth's polarity changes, the inner core will spin backwards. This will cause catostrophic flooding because the oceans around the equator will change from moving at 1,000 mph one direction to 1,000 mph the other direction. This concept is backed by scientist, Patrick Geryl, who is at this time planning a survival group in South Africa. Think I'm joking? Look up "How to survive 2012" on google. It sounds stupid, but go to his page. It should be the first one listed. There is a whole lot of scientific proof about the events that are going to occur. Even if the world doesn't end, which I don't believe it will, serious things will happen and our lives will change.

It has to do with the Mayan Calendar. It ends on 2012. They had very meticulous records that were destroyed by the Spaniards. However, the calendar system, which was also very accurate for some reason ends on 2012. Nothing special really, but people are freakin out about it...do some research. Google "mayans and 2012."

In a Christian context, the next event that I look to is the Rapture of the church, immediately occurring at that time the Great Tribulation. So it's not the end of the world, but the beginning of terrible times on Earth, where God pours His wrath out on the Earth.

So 2012 could be a year that points to that. I think that it is possible.

Come the rapture, can I have your stuf?

Whenever there is a lot of stress in life, some people think it means the end of the world. It has happened for centuries, people thought the world would end during the terrible plagues in Europe in the 14th century, and again during Napolean's wars, during the world wars as well.

Today, there is the threat of a third world war, economic instability, and climate change. This is the stress that can cause some folks to think the end has come.

2012 is referring to th eMayan calendar.
2011 is a year many are really looking at for Christs return
http://www.may212011.com/return_of_christ

Most will say we will not know when he will return ..

However, we must remember God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does things in patterns. If Noah, Abraham, Lot, JOnah etc... were all warned of coming destruction, why would God not reveal this at his end time.

1Thessalonians 5:2-4 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Dec 21 2012, the end of the Mayan calender cycle.

Ppl are freaking out over nothing.

That's when this cycle of the Mayan calendar ends.

What most people don't know is that it also starts over on a new cycle. It's more likely to be like a new year than an end of anything.

All I know for sure is that my driver's license expires in 2012. But it came from several places, including the Aztec/Mayan Calendar, and the I Ching. Maybe even the Hopi Prophecies. But they all really just say that there will be a change in the SYSTEM of things. ie, no more corrupt and lying governments. YAY!

And it's NOT Jan 1st. It's more like November 21st.

?!?! WTF??? That's my youngest son's 21st birthday!!! He must be the Antichrist!!!!!!! lol

I haven't heard about this rumor, but I guess it makes at least a little sense...since the year 2000 end of the world thing didn't happen, they had to come up with a new one.

God said no man will know the day or the hour.
2012 that's only a little more than 4 years, one can only hope.
