If you are buying HDMI or Digital Audio Optical cables, find the cheapest one you can online.

Any digital medium does not benefit from "Gold-Plating" or other marketing schemes, and is not affected by long cable runs (unless they happen to be over 100ft).

What are the cables for ? Interconnects between Source and Amplifier.Speaker cable between Power Amp and Speakers. Video cables.(DVI,HDMI Component ) Optical cables. Can you give details of the ones you are after?

EDIT....Cables produce most of the noise, distortion, and signal loss. Unfortunately,it is typically the weakest link in most systems. It is an area where a little more money goes a long way. When you see and hear the difference good cables can make, you will be amazed.
I use only Van Den Hul Speaker Cable and Cable Talk Interconnects and the results are amazing. Don't let people tell you any 16 Gage wire will do .Speaker cables do sound different and you don't have to spend a fortune to get good ones.

For standard def, I like the Radio Shack Gold series or the Acoustic Research Pro2 line of cables.

For HighDef - the custom cable sites like BlueJeans do a great job. They use industry quality coax and connectors and their $50 cables will rival the $200 retail cables.

Remember - any retail cables have a 50% markup so these will always be a bit pricey.

in case you watch digital programming on an HDTV, that's going to look slightly out of concentration. you need to observe HD channels with an HDTV for the superb photograph. Your cable field ought to no longer be an HDTV cable field and that's the subject. DVD's ought to look great and almost HD, in the experience that your DVD participant upconverts. touch your cable enterprise and ask what field you have. you need to have one which shows 480p, 720p and 1080i and 1080P.
