Yes there always will be. I loved the man and I am a grown old man and my heart was broken the day he died. I had lost a hero and it hurt bad It was the saddest day I can remember. It didn't take weeks, months it took years to be able to watch any kind of show devoted to him with out shedding a tear or two. One thing that truly amazed me and impressed me was how big of a man Dale Jr. was when dealing with it.
I live up north and like the one person said he is loved up here too.
forever a fan of the man

I'm a Dale Sr fan forever, I was lucky enough to meet this great driver several times I was in Daytona in 1998 when the won the 500..I was also there in 2001 on that awful day when he was taken from us way to soon, not a day goes by that I do not think about him and wonder how great DEI would be today if he were still here .. R.I.P Dale Sr, you will always be the greatest driver ever in my heart...
Go Dale Jr win at Texas..

Are you kidding? Look around. Any vehicle you see with an "8" in the back window also has a "3". Heck, I live up north, & there are rolling shrines to Sr all over the place.

I've come full circle with the man. During most of his living years, I couldn't stand his tactics.
But as the years have gone by, I've come to better understand who the man really was and I've grown to appreciate what he contributed to the sport and his heart for his family and little kids. The "lucky penny" story will bring a tear to your eyes. Yeah, I'm a Gordon fan, but that doesn't mean I'm blind to how Earnhardt broadened NASCAR's popularity.
I miss him. You also see a lot of love for him where I live, in the Northwest.

I couldn't stand him when he was winning so much, mostly because of his dirty driving tactics. Then after Gordon started dominating I was glad to see Dale whip his *** a few times
