My computer automatically converts Word files to OpenOffice files. How can I make it stop?

Do you have both Microsoft Office and OpenOffice installed? If so, try "Save as" rather than "Save".

When you save the files just change the type of document to a word doc, it's an option under the ''save as'' tab.

Uninstall Word and just run with OpenOffice.

No, Open Office doesn't, you do.

Choose File >: Save As.. and select Microsoft Office...
