Not really. But if you ARE truly saved, then you will at least try to obey all of the commandments, even though you might fail. And if you are saved, then you'll go to heaven.

The only thing that effects your trip to Heaven is whether you have been Born Again. The ten commandments is another issue, getting saved is what gets you to the Promise Land. John 3:3, says Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven.
Here is a sinners prayer and a sure fired way to get to Heaven if you believe and are willing to give your heart and soul to Jesus Christ, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

In place of the Old Testament law, we are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do, “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). Technically, the Ten Commandments are not even applicable to Christians. However, 9 of the Ten Commandments are repeated in the New Testament (all except the command to observe the Sabbath day). Obviously, if we are loving God we won't be worshipping other gods or worshipping idols. If we are loving our neighbors, we won't be murdering them, lying to them, committing adultery against them, or coveting what belongs to them. So, we are not under any of the requirements of the Old Testament law. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we do those two things faithfully, everything else will fall into place.

The people who are sifted out are the people who don't believe with their whole heart. The 10 Commandments come naturally if you are a Christian.

How utterly ignorant.
God's commandments to man? Then there would be a statement by God where He commands all mankind to keep them.
But such is not the case. These commandments are a covenant. We refer to it as the "old" covenant, and the parties to this covenant were God and Israel, ONLY.
But if you think there is life in keeping the law; the commandments, you go right ahead.
But break just one, and you stand condemned to death.
My guess is you can't go a single day without transgressing the law.
Those on the 'right' are those who believe the gospel, and not the law.

Yeah it does. The Commandments keep you from sinning. They were the gigantic sign of the Old Covenant. The Beatitudes bring you closer to God and are a gigantic sign of the New Covenant. They go hand in hand. Except the Beatitudes were not written in stone.

There is no way we can follow the Law.
If we have broken 1 of the Commandments, we have broken them all.
If we live by the Law, we will be judged by the Law.
God's will is that we believe in the One He sent, His Son Jesus Christ.

Yes, it does effect your eternity. The question is, how and why do you obey them. Do you simply live the letter of the law...IE the temporal law...or do you encompass the spirit of the law...spiritual aspects of the law...as well? For example...lets say that you don't steal your neighbors goods...but you use your power and influence to make sure that he eventually has to sell all that he has...you obeyed the Thou shall not steal law...and as long as you didn't covet or bare false witness about him...you are free and clear there...but...did obey the spirit of those laws...or did you just strive to find a loop hole that allowed you to hurt him anyway??
That is why Christ said that he didn't come to do away with the Law but to fulfill it. He showed us that the spirit of the law is just as if not more important than the law itself. Our thoughts and intentions as well as our actions are going to be judged.

No because you can repent be forgiven etc.. Besides, you've technically already broken the first commandment. EVERYONE has.
