I think the guy should ask for her number, but in this day and age things are changing and lot of more girls make the first move by asking the guy for his. Do what feels right to you. Good luck and hope I helped.

Ask for her number. If she consents, then offer her your number. Offer both your cell AND your land line (if you have a land line). If you don't, then explain, "This is my cell number. It's the only number I have." Reason? Lots of married (or otherwise encumbered) males will avoid giving a home number for fear she will call and the wife might answer....busted! And most women know this trick. So try to avoid looking like an on-the-prowl schmuck.

me personally, i would prefer if the guy just emails me. i don't like giving out my number until i spend more time with the person to find out if he's crazy or not. getting a phone call is much more personal for me than and email.
an email can just be marked as spam if you don't want anything to do with the person. it's different with a phone call. you might just have to change your cell number.
if you're going to ask, ask what they prefer. if they are interested, ask if they would rather have your number/email or if they would like to give you their email/number.

ask the girl for her's, so that way she doesn't have to worry about calling you. you can do either one, but i just think the girl will like if she gives you her number instead of the other way around

If you are both into each other why not EXCHANGE numbers, it's not going that much further than asking for her number and that way you are both covered!!

I think the more polite thing is to ask for hers cause if you give her yours then your telling her that it is her job to call. If you ask for hers it is in your hands....GOOD LUCK!!
