Yesterday when I got home, my cat was acting very strange. She was very jumpy..shed get startled anytime I would pet her..she acted as though she was seeing things that werent there..for example, she would look at the ceiling or the wall and she would jump really high and run away. It was almost impossible to hold her because she kept looking at something, getting scared, and running away. She couldnt walk or run in a straight line. When I held her, I could feel her whole body twitching, like she was having muscle spasms.
After a couple hours she was much better, but was still a little twitchy and jumpy as she is now.
I can think of absolutely nothing she could have eaten or gotton into that could have made her act this way! I also dont have any catnip she could have gotton into it, as someone suggested.
Im really worried at would have have happened to her...please help!

When you say that she was "seeing things", it could be possible that it has something to do with her eyes. She could be seeing spots or flashes (would be related to a seizure) or she could be having trouble seeing which is frightening her.
Whatever it is, she definitely should have at least a simple blood test from the vet.

This sounds like a nerve/skin reaction. Your vet needs to see if it's muscle, skin or contact related--get her in to the vet. At the very least he'll prescribe an antihistamine that's safe for cats to help calm her body's reactions down. This isn't good for her to have so don't wait hoping it'll go away, spasms come from somewhere and the underlying cause needs to be treated. Waiting can make it worse for the cat.
Dreams or a fright would be gone within a few minutes to hours. If this has been for more than 3 hours, it's something that a veterinarian needs to check.

Sometimes cats get anxiety, and this could possibly be what is going on with her. Has there been any storms or any weather-related conditions going on in your area? Animals sometimes can sense something bad is going to happen before it happens. Maybe this is what is going on. Or, have you met someone new and brought them in the house? Animals are just like kids when it comes to people. Maybe a new person scared her or something. If there is nothing else wrong, you might want to consider taking her to the vet to see what is going on with her. There may be some other problems within her that you can't physically see. Explain to the vet what you told us and see what your vet's recommendations are.

Something may have startled her.
Was there a storm, with thunder?
Do you live in an apt. or shared house,.... could someone have come in while you were away?
These are things that first comes to my mind.
Noises that frightened her or something outa the ordinary.
*But who's to know, maybe the kitty had a bad dream/nightmare! (I know my cats and dogs twitch their paws and sometimes violently whilst asleep,.... I deduced to having a dream)
If it persists, pls. see a vet,.. it could have been a mild seizure.
***Just saw your update,.... she's just a KITTEN! So she just may be having a "kitten 'spaz attack'"!!! they get nutso crazy and excited over 0, maybe an imaginary friend like a toddler would!

No idea... but your cat is really high strung and insane... she even sleeps like she is suspicious about something, and when she is awake (at my house at least) she is peering over something, watching everything like a sniper. Maybe she was in the middle of a dream and you scared the hell out of her and broke her for awhile, esp since you had been gone all day that day, maybe you walked in and caught her off guard... I don't know tho... just a thought

We had an indoor only cat who got out one time a got a flea on him and went really crazy. The Vet said he may have been extra sensitive to fleas or allergic to them or simply so unprepared for the pain and itching.
Check your cat carefully and keep an eye on her, good luck!

The first thing that comes to my mind is , I wonder if she is deaf. But also, the fact she couldnt walk or run in a strieght line is more concerning.
I would not hesitate taking it to the vet .

I hate to assert this, regardless of if it sounds like common cat habit to me. They paw on the door and it makes noise. additionally, they get your attn. attempt only leaving the doorways open in common terms a procedures adequate for them to get by using. My cat used to clutter with the closet door all night until eventually i began leaving it open in common terms a splash.

How old is this cat? It sounds like a mild seizure, but I don't know why it would go on this long.
