i cant see how it makes sense. first of all if you geniunely dont belive in something, you cant truly change your mind, you can only fake belief. that means that if god exists, and e does know everything, he knows you are lying to him to be in his favour, which i think would be much worse than following your own opinion

There are many problems with Pascal's wager; you've hit on a couple of them. There's also the issue that religion isn't just a yes or no proposition. To fully hedge your bets you should go to the mosque on Friday, synagogue on Saturday, and church on Sunday, as well as observe the sabbats and esbats, practice zazen and develop a personal relationship with Obatala.

It might be good to post Pascals wager because not everyone knows what it is. Here it is (simplified a bit):
If there really is no god then it doesn't matter if you believed in him or not.
If there is a god then there is a negative consequence for not believing in him (hell, ect.)
So Pascal is basically saying that regardless of the conditions there is no possible bad consequence for faith while there is the possible bad consequence for a lack of faith.
Personally I agree (as an atheist) that this is not a real argument because if there really was a god he would either not care or be able to see through such a cheap trick.

All of the above arguments against and, to cap it all, any Christian using it is going directly agaisnt the bible, since the idea that "even if it isn't true we're no worse of " is utterly contradicted by their own authority, Paul:
"If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied." (1Cor 15:19)

It also begs the question, which god, and which definition of god? There is no agreed upon definition anywhere. So the premise falls apart before it begins.
