I am not exactly sure what you are searching for but Christmas trees are evergreens; remain green all year long; give protection to animals and birds; a symbol of everlasting beauty, grace and protection; you could say similar to Jesus for similar to all that come to him for protection for life everlasting ; People and animals depend on trees and plants for oxygen. As you breathe in, your body uses oxygen. As you breathe out, it gives off carbon dioxide. Trees do just the opposite. They take in Carbon Dioxide and then release oxygen (which also helps clean the air).

Try looking at page 33 of "A Christmas Companion" by Maria Robbins & Jim Charlton. There tons of stuff on the history of Christmas trees in that book. Any library should be able to get one in for you. If yours doesn't have one already. A really good clue for hidden info is to look in Christmas cook book/crafts sections of the library. Good luck.

horangi, I am a pagan and I do not nor do I know any pagans who worship Christmas trees.

The evergreen is a symbol of everlasting life because it was the only plant that could survive the harsh northern winters. But it's a symbol of life, not an object of worship. There is a difference.
