Actually, Scott, even after the New Testament came along, "Christians" were still burning people.

I think you know the answer to your question. I think you need to look to present day sources more for your inspiration. I am not traditional, so I believe in finding the best in spiritual ideas, where ever they may be, even from an individual as a source. Meditate/pray, do mind-body exercises, eat healthy , and don't over indulge, and this should sharpen your spiritual senses, so that you will find better sources of inspiration, than that one you refer to.

No, he didn't "burn" his daughter . The letter "vav" in Hebrew, although normally translated as "and" can also be translated as "or". The verse should read ...."shall surely be the the Lords, or I will offer it up...". Not only was human sacrifice forbidden but you could not sacrifice an unclean animal to G-d. If his donkey had came out to meet him he could not have offered it up as an offering, however he could have given it to the priest to use.

Most Christians don't burn people these days. They became increasingly liberal after Jesus.
Although the 60's came and went, and they don't sing 'kumbaya' so loudly as they chant Right Wing propaganda and the Armageddon tune these days...
Also gay-bashing has actually increased, so it's not all good.

if i am not mistaken, that was the real mean spirited Old Testament. Jesus came down and explained that God was just kidding around about the Old Testament. Jesus wants you all to forget about that and only focus on his "NEW" teachings. Thats when we get the NEW Testament!!! ...
