Depends on the type of surgery you had. Days 3 and 4 were the worst for me, then it got better gradually from there. Be careful you don't have dry socket, talk to your surgeon if you have questions - there are ways they treat that. Don't drink from a straw or spit, that will cause dry socket. Use lots of ice the first 48 hours, then some moist heat will help.

The more you use ice after oral surgery, the less it will swell. The ice will also reduce the pain slightly since it will numb it. Taking a little bit of medication doesn't hurt unless your surgeon told you otherwise(I like Motrin).

The soreness, depending on the extremity of the surgery, should go away in about half a week to a full week. If you had your wisdom teeth removed then it would be about 4 or 5 days before the soreness becomes very small.

It also depends on how good the surgeon is at his job, I have heard people tell me about how it took weeks for their soreness to fade after surgery. I have a good oral surgeon that has proven to me that he is amazing, I was sore for 3 days after my wisdom teeth were pulled and then it was perfect.

Yes I did have oral surgery. It was the result of my X-husband that wouldn't let me go to the dentist. I finally earned enough money to get it done. I had a tumor in my chin that had made a hole from front to back in my lower chin bone. It is very hard for them to deaden my mouth so I had to be put to sleep. I had dentures put in the same day. The only problem I had is when I went back to get the sutures taken out. The surgeon forgot to put some med on my gum. He did say that I would always have problems trying to eat. I've learn to live with it. As for the after surgery pain, I think it was about 3 weeks that it was all better. We are all different, so we each will have a different healing time.

I kept my mouth rinsed out with warm salty water.
I only ate soft food or soup and plenty of liquids. Hope this helps. Take care.

I had no problem from immediately after the surgery. But everyone is different and the extent of the surgery is a factor.

Be sure to pay attention to your mouth and don't let any infection get started. Wash your mouth with warm salty water several times a day and that should help. If it doesn't start healing soon call your doctor.

The corners of my mouth stayed sore for a couple weeks. The oral surgeon says they prop your mouth open and probably are rougher on you than if you are awake.I think you still have another week before you notice the soreness being gone.Follow the dentist's advice.

relies upon what form of oral surgical operation you will had. I had numerous tooth extractions and frenolectomy accomplished, so I quite have merely a sprint journey on that project. once you're asleep suring the technique, it won't harm and you'd be medicated once you awaken, after which you're able to have some meds to take each and every few hours, so which you will in common terms have a gentle soreness for the 1st few days, or till you're out of meds. based the place the surgical operation is, your jaw may be stiff, you will get blood rushed to the pinnacle in case you bend over, your cheeks may be slightly swollen, your tongue could harm to bypass (consume and swallow) yet you will heal interior of each and every week or 2. in case you are able to no longer consume good, be effective to consume solid gentle issues which will save your capability up. solid success!

I think it hurt for 2-weeks after. I think you should give yourself at least 2-weeks to heal those tender gums. I took forever and my stitches hurt after that. Hot baths help[, Good Luck.
