Now please don't quote 'When Harry met Sally'! I'm talking about a man and a woman who keep in contact over a long period of time, say months or years...even though they don't live in the same area. They may not be in contact very often but the friendship still continues. I've heard it said that a woman can have a man as a friend only but a man always has a 'soft spot', I mean feelings of attraction for a woman he keeps in contact with. Is this true? Would love in particular to hear from the men on this one! Also, if a guy has actually kissed this girl at some stage and keeps in touch with her, isn't it more likely that he holds some desire for her beyone a brother-sister type of feeling? By the way, I'm talking about 2 single people.

well I'm not completely sure about the situation you've described, but I have some guy friends, and I love them, but only as friends.

I used to like one of them a lot too, but now, I got over it and we're just friends :] . It's possible to just be friends, really. If a previous relationship was involved, there might still be feelings, but it's not definite.

I think the soft spot lies with us girls. It is very hard to have a male best friend and not start to think of him as a love interest. You start asking yourself "Why aren't we together when everything is so perfect?" and then you may find yourself getting hurt if he has a girlfriend, especially if the girlfriend isn't good to him and doesn't want him being friends with you in the first place. Can you tell this has happend to me? I think two people of the opposite sex can be friends, but it's complex and can take a hell of a lot of work!

yeah you can be friends with someone of the opposite sex without feeling that attraction. sometimes you meet someone that you really like but you would never go out with them so you are just really good friends.
