HAHAHAHA Love that. I am in total agreement with you. It's just pathetic when you hear somebody talk about how "Money isn't everything". Who says it's everything? You just can't do ANYTHING without it. As for the one about "you can't take it with you". LOL What has that got to do with anything? You still need it while you're alive. Oh, what about that utterly silly comment people often make...."Money doesn't buy you happiness" Oh yeah? Well it can sure help you to be miserable in comfort LOL.

The only people who say this kind of things are those who haven't got any money, and I suppose it's somehow their way of trying to make themselves not feel so bad about it. When I've ever got into any conversation about money, and someone might have asked me whether I would have married my husband if he'd been a poor man, I say "Absolutely not, because all the love in the world does not pay the bills". You are right; there IS nothing wrong with wanting to have a certain level of comfort in life, and if a person has the opportunity to achieve that, he or she would be a damn fool to turn it down.

I'm not talking necessarily about a vast amount of money (but if I do win that 50 million dollar powerball lottery jackpot, I wont be upset about it). I wouldn't marry a poor man because I saw no virtue in walking with eyes wide open into a situation where I knew I would have to spend the rest of my life scrimping and saving, and counting pennies and worrying about what'll happen if I can't pay the bills, or visit the doctor etc. "God will provide" is the one you hear a lot from the super-religious. Really? I'll bet a dollar to a donut nobody has ever seen "God's" signature on a welfare check. Unless a person is just a bone-idle, workshy, mooching bum, there is no shame in just being poor. But it sure isn't any great joy or honor either, and I had no intention of ever living the life of a "scratchpenny".

My husband (of several decades I might add) always had the best come-back whenever any man said something about how he couldn't understand why it was so hard to find a woman who was just prepared to "marry for love" and "Where is true romance"? My husband always laughs and says "You try making love to a hungry woman on a stone floor too many times, and you'll learn fast what happens to love and romance".

Fortunately more and more women are being able to rise to the level of financial independence nowadays, so they do not necessarily have to depend on a husband to support them. But the smart ones still want to marry on their own level of intelligence and financial capability, because they don't want a husband who could be tempted to mooch off them.

I'm all for programs designed to give people who are in temporary hardship, or permanant disability, a means to live with reasonable dignity, but sadly, politicians have used that old "We must help the underprivileged" ticket to get voted into office, and then forced through bills that provide welfare handouts to every kind of scam artist, work dodger, and mooching ne'er do well under the sun. Now we're seeing them fiercely working to pass similar bills that will provide more handouts to ILLEGAL ALIENS for gawd's sake.

An uncomfortable thought keeps coming to my mind. Somebody once had a great idea.... take allll the money from the wealthy, and aportion it out equally among everybody. Those who work hard and make the money will have theirs taken away and given to those who have none. The idea was to make everybody equal. They had a name for it. Communism. Don't you get the uncomfortable feeling that our politicians these days are trying to ressurect that same idea here in America?

Money is indeed important to provide you with the necessities of life, food , shelter, security which depends on your definition of security. However money is NOT the end all and be all. There are alot more unhappy millionaires and billionaires and nouveau riche people because despite having all the money in the world and all the things they could ever want or need, they're still not happy.

Poor people can be just as happy or as unhappy as rich people.

Money can't really buy you love . It can't always buy you a cure . Money can't stop someone from being lonely .

That's why somewhere it's been written that the pursuit of money is the root of all evil Too many people nowadays and especially young people worship money, fame and fortune and celebrity rather than God who is the true source of everyone 's power.

And the question is where?

I do not call them a gold digger, but as a Christian and believer in Christ I follow His teachings and try to be content in all situations. It doesn't take money to make me happy, the simple things in life are what i enjoy the most. Spending time with my partner, and having fun at the lake, or having a picnic under the stars that is what is fun to me.

Everyone wants nice things, but one must realize that you have to learn to be happy without them, what if you and your partner got fired? What if the house burned down? You have to base your happiness on things, other than money and possesions.

I might be stupid, and i might be crazy but at least I would make it with little, and with a lot. I'm not dependant on a large salary. Also, no you don't Private school, we pay for the lunches... And if you want to make the assumption that i am broke, and that i have had everything handed down to me... then go ahead, i won't hold it against you.

God Bless.

Money IS important for survival, but I dislike the fact that it's what makes the world go round. People are living way above their means, buying things they can't afford to impress people they don't know and don't even like. Who are the stupid people exactly? As far as how much your mate should make...I believe they should be able to do their equal share, but a large bank account shouldn't be a prerequisite. If a person isn't a gold digger, why would they look to date a man with more money than they make themselves? There's one to think on.

if you are not with someone for love but are for the money, it's called prostitution. You are too easily lead by the promise of easy money, as are alot of people these days. And if you can't make it on your own, then that says it all. I have worked all my life to earn everything I own the right and honest way. I can honestly say that it has given me the right prospect on life, and am happy with what I have! Don't fold over to greed!

You sure got your feathers ruffled. It isn`t wrong to want good things, and to get them. What your detractors should do as you obviously have, and get a good education, so as to get a good job and get things. The only problem is, that so many people don`t have the daddy with enough money to send them to school. Try to be less indignant, it`s not becoming.

there is nothing wrong with wanting the good things in life but you usually don't just get them handed to you. It is right that you are ambitious and work and you spend your money as you want, not as some idiots tell you they think you should.

Calm down! LOL Nothing wrong with wanting good and nice things. Just don't let it be your focus in life. Happiness should be placed first and if having those things make you happy, more power to you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even you, so they should accept that. : )

Well said. You should always include financial stability and career ambition as characteristics when choosing a mate.
