I'd say just be yourself, whatever you'd do to catch his attention or to make him like you would come naturally. It'll come across as much more sincere, and much less "fake-ish". As a guy, I can't tolerate girls who're acting and not being themselves, those are the kind I wouldn't go out with, they're too insecure about themeselves. So I think its better if you just do whatever nice things you want cos your feelings direct you to do it, rather than put on a fake front.
Of course, I'm speaking assuming you're looking for a serious relationship with the guy and not just a fling.

if a girl reaches for her mobile while I am talking to her that's immediate disqualification because then I know that I am talking to a birdbrain; similarly if she forgets I am there when a third person joins the group - people are such poor concentrators and so distracted now that anyone who can slow down and listen is at an immediate advantage or possibly not as typically people are so unused to this that they wouldn't recognise it and they would be left with a vague feeling that you were mad.
as a general point it is an irony of our time that the better the means of communication the less anyone is listening and has anything worthwhile to say.

I can always tell by the way a female looks at me and her body language. It's not a "planned" thing on a females part. I believe it comes naturally if she is interested.
