It depends. The younger (highschool) crowd would say 0-2 years age difference, while for the adults (19+) it varies. My observation of the adults seems to indicate 0-8 years age difference as the norm, though of course we all know couples who are 10 or more years apart....

As long as both parties are over 18, I don't know that it really matters so much although, there is often a maturity issue until at least about age 20. My dad was 20 years older than my mom when they married and they raised 7 children until she died at age 42. On Answers, I've seen limits of up to about 30 years from the women, but more commonly about 20.

Nowadays it is difficult to say what a "normal courting couple is".
Most of us on here have assumed they are 1 male and 1 female
but what if they are 2 of same sex?
Age doesn't really matter, as long as they are happy.

Well the age difference between my boyfriend and I is 4 years, but I am 18 and he is 22. If you are under 18 then you should stick with no one more than 2 years older or younger than you. But honestly, I don't think it matters that much so long as you are mature enough to understand that someone much older than you could take advantage of you and you have to be strong enough not to allow that.

"Normal" is all relative; what is normal to one person, is not going to be normal to another person. As long as the two parties are of consenting age and are both happy with the arrangement I don't think it really matters.
