I moved to Hawaii 2 years ago from the mainland and all the shipping companies I called said I could not pack anything in the car. It stinks because it would be a lot easier and cost less money than shipping your stuff seperately. My boyfriend and I ended up just packing a lot of bags and paying the airport for our extra luggage.

Have moved with a vehicle overseas, with the military and don't recommend putting any of your personal belongings in the vehicle. The U.S. Customs Service, thoroughly inspects every inch of the vehicle and they want just the opposite. Is supposed to be vacuumed, washed, and tidy as possible. If I remember correctly, when our son just returned from Germany recently too, the only thing allowed in the car was the safety kit. That was a year ago.

First you need to make sure you can ship your car over there. They have very strict rules about that in Hawaii. If you've got the approval and you're sure you want to pay to have your car shipped over there, then by all means load that car up as if it were your own shipping crate. Just leave enough room for someone to get behind the wheel and move it.

NO. you can't. They will not ship your car if you put personal items/belongings in it. Your car needs to be completely empty, even the gas has to be empty in order to ship.

NO they will not allow it. The car has to bee completely empty. You even have to take out all of your tools. We shipped our car on Matson from Oahu to long Beach, Ca. Check out their web site and get more info.

Yes. You pay for the weight and / or volume of the car. When shipping by air or sea you will be given prices for both, whichever is the higher for your shippment will apply.
EDIT: Slapping, Hawaii is still part of the USA. You don't go through customs when travelling between States.

When I shipped my car inter-island they (Young Brothers) instructed me not to store anything in it, I stored 2 boxes & they removed them. I think they do this for safety, they can't be checking everyone's stuff for contraband , illegal aliens, or BOMBS. Call the shipper.
