Left grandson to dog sit for two hours ,came back and found he had been messing round with computer and now aint got microsoft word on, and when i go to download they want £20 have i to pay that , iam new at this game any advice please

He's more than likely just deleted the Word icon rather than uninstalled it. Have a look in the recylcle bin.

If there is nothing there then search your hard drive for a file called WINWORD.EXE. If it's there click on it (you can then create a shortcut to it).

Look in the "Programs" folder and see if Microsoft work is still there. If it is, it is easy to replace the "Desktop Icon". Here is the path to the folder. My Computer/"C"/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office. Scroll down until you see the Word Icon, it's almost at the bottom of the list. Now right click on the "W" (WINWORD.EXE). In the dialog box that opens, put your curser on "Send To. That will open a side box. In this box slid your curser over to "Desktop (create a shortcut)" and do one left click. That should put the Icon back on your desktop.

If you have an Office cd that hopefully came with the computer, you should be able to download it from that.

If you cannot find Word after following above instructions you can download a free alternative which is better at http://openoffice.org .

(between me and u) there is a lot of websites where u can download software.

although it is illegal- try entering download microsoft word on google, your bound to get some good results.
