I have the same problem.... I am a Coke addict. But the kind you drink :)

First, I switched to Fresca. Hey, it was a step in the right direction. Then I made sure that I ALWAYS had bottled water on hand because I think part of the issue for me is convenience. I really like this bottled water called Hint. It doesn't have any sweetner in it, but it is infused with natural flavors like lime or mint. It's a little pricey, but not any pricier than buying a fountain soda out.
So, I eventually got away from the Fresca and haven't had a soda in about 3 weeks. At first I would forget when I was out to eat and still order soda, but now I order water with lime or ice tea.
I hope that helps. It is hard, I know. But you can do it!!!

Im cutting down slowly it's the best way don't quit cold turkey as others have said having a can or two a week isn't bad aslong as it's a treat and you don't abuse it.

I understand drinking it for the caffeine i myself don't like coffee but i want the caffeine hit so i have to drink cola for it :P just slow it down every week try to get to a reasonable standard i used to drink two liters per week now im at 1 litre.

Also don't go with diet soda it's way worse and you will get hooked on it just slow it down :).

If you quit cold turkey you'll get caffeine headaches, so just start slowly cutting it out of your diet. Stop drinking regular soda, definitely switch to diet if you haven't already. Then start drinking caffeine free sodas, perhaps having one caffinated soda a day until your headaches start to ease up, then eventually just work yourself off of them. Tell yourself you can only have two a day this week, then one a day the next week, things like that. Set limits for yourself and don't go over them. You can do it! Good luck!

Many soft drinks have 2 addictive substances in them (Caffeine and HFCS).

Try adding carbonated water (seltzer) to cheap fruit juice. You can also buy one of those 3 gallon plastic containers of spring water and make tea with it (all at once) and then pour the tea back into the container and stick it in the fridge. You can add some sugar, cranberry, grenadine, whatever, and bam you got 3 gallons of iced tea ready to go when you open your fridge.

You could drink some fruit juice first and milk then you can get yourself some ice water and choose which one you like the best but still drink little of the juice because it has a lot of sugar in it as well. Everything should be done in moderation.

When I quit, I switched to plain club soda. And I did have a terrible Mt. Dew habit for years. I didn't get the caffeine withdrawal, I guess I was more addicted to the fizz. And when I go out to eat I get iced tea. A little caffeine, but not too much.

Make the decision to stop and do it. Drink water and sugarless tea instead. After you get your "habit" under control and you aren't craving the stuff, you can occasionally have a soda.

don't do it cold turkey if that's not working for you. when you go out to eat, occasinally order iced tea or lemonade instead. when you're at the store, buy those half cans and some bottled water. eventually you'll cut down and it won't be as tempting.

Just drink plain old water instead. Use a water bottle and keep it with you all the time.
