I have been planning a move to CA (from Chicago), originally looking at Los Angeles because of the lively environment (and natuarally the weather). NOW, I've been all but handed a great job in Newport Beach... I am a 34yo single professional woman who wants a good social life and loves outdoor activities. I am wondering how that area is for fun singles and social life. Is that a place fit for someone like me?

You are in for a treat. Newport and the surrounding towns are very upscale with lots of professional types and a good social enviroment. Great restaurants and clubs. Lots of recreational activity and great beaches. From San Clemente to Seal Beach you have many choices. Laguna is charming with lots of gallerys and great dining choices. secluded beaches and good shopping. Dana point has a nice harbor and a wonderful view from the point. Newport itself offers just about everything. Trust me. Your social life is going to be great.

It's a great community. Newport Beach is pretty affluent, safe, clean, and is lively like Los Angeles. I'm sure there's a lot of socializing in the area for singles like you.

I think you would love NEWPORT BEACH, first off it's safe, and it's 45 mins south of LA, and 45 min north of San Diego, it's really beautiful, but rent is a little high. However you can find some great places for a little lower if you have time to look.

Newport Beach is a lot of fun. The weather is nicer at the beach than in the city also.

Newport Beach is the place for you my dear. close to all the freeways, and The South Coast Plaza, and there are plenty of professionals to meet and things to do in that safe, area.
