I'd like to provide a bit of food for thought. Let's not weigh the question down with all the merits of your argument one way or the other, let's set aside all the wonderful names that have emerged on all sides, and consider the words of two widely embraced people, both of whom left us years ago:

"A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds." -- Mark Twain

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead

If we work together we can find common ground, don't you think?

Anyone who is of an optimistic train of thought believes, whole-heartedly, that change is possible. However, I would also like to pose reality.

There has always been a need for change, somewhere; everywhere. Time and history are filtered by our own minds and, partly, by the pessimism of others. No matter the decade, the one in which we live is always worse than the one before that. Even the great depression is given a positive light because we, as a nation, found a way out.
Do you not think that some of the nation sat down and another part of the nation stood back? There are those, even in this "tyrannical" government today who actually do care about the nation that they are leading. Matter of fact, the majority do care, but it's a two edged sword for reasons I'd rather not explain due to time and typing constraints.

Common ground is constantly needed, but it cannot be found, nationally, and unfortunately, much less globally, in a matter of weeks, months, or even years. A balance between necessity and want is an average over time. One year was exceptionally poor, environmentally, the next may be better. We are not just dealing with ourselves here. We are attempting to "fix" what has been fixing itself for hundreds of thousands of years (or millions, depending on your train of thought): Nature. We have learned to not fight it, but to cooperate and cope with it's actions. Isn't saving something a way of controlling the outcome of its future? We need to look to ourselves and the rest of the listening human-kind for ways to let nature save us from our fate. We will not always be on this earth, but nature has been and always will be, one way or another.

I don't want to unite with nobody. The U S still has the best educated minds in the world. They are conservative. Liberal educated minds are educated want a be's. Why do liberals hate our country so much. Is it because we are the best?

Isn't the U S the world leader? The game should be follow the leader not the other way around. I was taught if you didn't fight for your rights you were a coward. The U S didn't help win 2 WWs by being a coward. If all you other countries would help win the war against Islamic fascist then we could have world peace

You are right on the line. here is a line for you

There was some work to be done.
everybody thought someone will do it,
someone thought, anyone will do it,
and anyone thought everyone will do it.
Nobody ended up doing it.

If you believe something needs to be done, don't just provide a bit of food for thought, lets not wait around and discuss the issuses. You yourself take the first step, and then see how many will follow. And then discuss the ways of getting somthing done instead of who will make the first move.

A lone man named Terry had started
on a journey, all by himself,
and as he limped down the road,
people came and joined him,
and it became a caravan.

people cannot even get it together in one village,
your country is more interested in War than in a co-operative existence with the world .

The poor countries and poor people everywhere have survival as a priority, the Environment is not top of their list.

Global consciousness has always been an impossible dream ,which stipulates that if and when it happens ,humanity will be of one mind and we would be saved ,sharing a common objective.

In the words of Thoth ,uttered 36.000 years ago .Infinite love is the only truth ,everything else is an illusion.

Unfortunately this idea has been the biggest enemy of those who wield the power ,for 6000 years ,their strength and control and wealth comes from a divided humanity ,And they have done and still do their best to keep us all in conflict with one and other.

At whatever cost inventing or orchestrating incidents to keep the strive and hate alive .

However much we wish for this not to be so ,to be at peace with all ,we will not be allowed to achieve it .

This is the story of Babel and it is still functioning now, more than ever.
DIVIDE AND RULE

"The danger posed by war to all of humanity and to our planet is at least matched by the climate crisis and global warming..." UN cheif Ban Ki-moon in BBC news article 2007/03/02

Yes it is about time to step back and regroup collectively as a world united.

Further more I think efforts of reversing climate change will only succeed if the world unites and works together. A large part of that would be cooperation on all levels worldwide, and many countries would have change behaviours to begin sharing information i.e. instead of developing technologies like nano solar for military purposes first and geoengineering second we might get somewhere (like we here in the United States has a bad habit of doing).

I think the threat and damage of climate change is so large once we are fully able comprehend the destruction we have caused on all levels around the world, and we have adequate leadership in place, it is an unquestionable amount of time that the world will have to unite out of sheer necessity to clean up the ecosphere and reverse the negative consequences of our actions (if possible). Hopefully we are not to far beyond the "tipping point" of irreversable damage before the people in power figure that out.

Things seem to be getting better in that regard at least in Europe but when it comes to us here in the U.S. maybe some of you noticed the rest of the world getting upset with the United States on a Presidential level because of his stance on global warming. We obviously need to quit electing Presidents who are unwilling to take a stand against global warming to say the least, so we can align ourselves with the world. I repeat: we need leaders that;

1. have a stance on the climate crisis that matches the rest of the world

2. would not repress scientific information that matches what everyone else says about global warming (435 counts of repression of scientific information about global warming and other critical issues done by the current administration were brought to the oversight commitee by the Union of Concerned Scientists)

3. quit putting polluters in charge of the EPA etc

4. is willing to cooperate with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and other sources that emerge if the world begins to unite on global warming...

to say the very least.

If you are at all intersted in protecting our planet speak out:

Use the action center at: ucsusa.org

let your voice be heard to your senators and congressmen. The above action center write letters to senators and conressmen for you, so they can know where you stand on climate change etc.. let your voice be heard okay?

The only way to End GW is to work together. I founded a web sight working to mitigate GW: geoengineering. Here is what we know: Blacktop (roads and parking lots) and buildings heat cities; Air pollution causes lung (And other) diseases, deforestation (causing more destruction -duststorms, hurricanes/cyclones all increasing deforestation) and destroys the ozone layer while heating earth surface; fires cause mud slides, deforestation and pollution-more heating surface temperatures; CFC's destroy the ozone layer raising skin cancer rates and killing off endanger species and increased surface temperatures; lighting produces ozone near the surface and raises air pollution levels-more heating, the suns increased magnetic field are causing increases in earthquakes (more destruction), volcanoes (wow), sun spots and more heating. Cars, airplanes, ships and most electricity production causes pollution, warmer temperatures and destruction...But most of this is in our control outside of the sun (Volcanoes and earthquakes are part of the sun magnetic strength): We need to fix it!

it would be resembling the Independence Day action picture, the extraterrestrial beings in motherships might attack aims worldwide, than the U.S. fighter jets might attempt to attack the alien ships yet can't because of the gap craft good shielding preserve, additionally whilst dogfighting and attempting to shoot down the alien crafts firing at them. Than an pilot might stress an area craft to crash on land and then he might eject to divulge the alien in the international and punch it. After that the alien technologies is located out, we try to apply their area craft in a stealth venture to strike the main considerable motherships, after lots success, the international than unites to attack and smash the alien stress in the international. i think of only good protection stress countries like great Britain, France, China, Russia, etc. might unite to attack the alien forces only after the U.S. beneficial properties success against the extraterrestrial beings, whilst others might probable no longer be in a position or scared to attack the alien stress.
