It should be fine as long as the plating is on a safe material. Silver is not harmful in a significant way and you should not be eating the flatware itself so you would not consume enough silver to have an issue.

There is only silver plated, none of pure silver. Yes. The electroplating process does contain cyanide, there is none when plated onto metal. The cyanide is a catalyst and is destroyed during the operation.
Silver is inert and does not react with human tissue. For hundreds of years dentist used silver for fillings.

I am still not sure as these sterling silver utensils have been washed in the dishwasher and have a dull sheen on them now which is removable when I used a silver cloth on them. These are not my utensils but a family I visit has done this to their sterling and use it daily. Concern????

I don't know, man. I make jewelry sometimes with silver plated wire, and the silver surface is pretty easy to get nicked, after that you would see the alloy in the core.

I certainly hope so, since silver utensils have been used since like forever. It should be safe, it doesn't contain lead as far as I know.

I always thought yes until I bought a dirty silver teapot.Silver kills many germs,but it should be clean.So yes if clean.

some of them are really thinner than a thin sheet of paper which are safe but if you overdose then of course it damages.

i think it should be ok... but if you eat off the metal chips then it would be harmful
