Most cats are not hypoallergentic.

JUST to you let you know...
Allergy is #1 reason why most cats end up in a shelter and humanely killed. Getting a pet is also a family decision... if rest of your family do not agree on it, or causes issues to rest of the family. For your dad's and brother's sake, I do not recommend getting a cat....

NO cat is hypoallergenic, they all have dander even the hairless ones.

The white color coats put off LESS dander than dark furred cats, but there's still allergens, so your family will never be free of it.

Some people with heavy allergies do this---
Get a hepa air filter for the sleeping room.
Don't allow any cats in the bedroom
Wash the walls and furniture down from knee level to the floor with distilled water once a month to remove up to 75% of the allergen hanging there.
Wet the cat down to the skin with distilled water (warm!) once a month and towel dry.

This will eliminate a lot of the problem, but if they touch the cat or the cat lays on anything they sit or lay on or what they wear, they'll still be exposed.

Not sure if this will help, but often allergies are resolved exactly by exposing the person(s) to that which creates the allergy.

Rather than worrying about the cat, would your Dad and brother not be willing to take anti-allergy herbs? Herbalife provide NRG combined with Shizandra. This tends to ease allergy sufferers.

Alternatively, if you could comb a little liquid petroleum Jelly in your cats fur or again Herbalife Aloe Vera Gel, this may reduce the problem quite considerably.

If your family are not able to support you on this one, how about a hairless cat? They do exist, probably Chinese or Japanese in origin.

There is one cat actually that does not shed its coat, but I cannot for the life of me recall which one it is. Still, there is a chance you may find this by googling. Fingers crossed and hope it will work out for you.

Cats shed: That's inevitable. But some shed less than others.

There are things you can do to help your cat shed less: Give him food that's just a bit oily and brush him frequently. And be prepared to dust and vacuum a lot, and see an allergist about treatments to lessen the effects of the allergies.

Good luck!

Do your Dad or your brother live with you? Do you currently have a cat? Just curious, it was not addressed in the question How allergic are they?
