My cat is really overweight, and is fairly old. I believe she is now 12 years old. When shhe goes near her food bowl, she just sits there until we finally move it closer to her. Me and my mom are worried, and don't know if she's losing her sight, or if she's just lazy.

I think she's both lazy and wants more attention/babying. Maybe she doesn't get to sit on your lap often enough, or maybe she's lonely because she's home all day without you. Maybe getting fed is the high point of her day. Maybe she would like to be brushed.

By the way, it's "my mom and I," not "me and my mom." I know a good girl like you wants to get it right.

It sounds to me like she's just lazy, since she knows where her food bowl is.

But watch her. And if she seems a bit clumsy, take her to the vet and find out what's going on.

Good luck!

Sounds as if it is her sense of smell thats going,or she could just be getting lazy and wants you to take her to her food. My 13yr old cat has her food taken to her wherever she is, upstairs, downstairs, wherever. She has got us really well trained.
