Kiwi fruit is not from New Zealand , it is an east Asian vine and they were called Chinese gooseberries before New Zealand had a great marketing idea. It is no more a New Zealand food than macadamia nuts are Hawaiian. New Zealand does produce the beautiful green-lip mussels but I don't know if they are found on other islands in the south Pacific.
