Yes all abortion clinics do give a class or a video. See, even when you got to go to a doctor and you get sick or need a immunization, they give you educational materials. Whether its a video and a pamphlet. A class isn't meant to prevent an abortion. Its there to educate. People do sometimes change their mind of getting an abortion or any surgical procedure done because of what they read, watch, or find out. Don't think that its only for abortions. They do it for appendectomies, gastric bypass, breast implants, shoot even for flu shots.
I don't know if this helped any but... hope it did.

Some states require counseling before an abortion so that the mother is aware of what is actually going to be done and her options. I personally find that offensive but that's just my opinion. Most people who seek an abortion have a hard time making the decision in the first place, they know exactly what is happening, they have already weighed their options and dont need any more lectures. These classes dont prevent anything but they do tend to make the participants miserable on purpose.

I don't think most facilities have a class as such, but they all require counseling before the procedure is decided on. As far as it preventing further pregnancies, it probably would in some, not in others. There are some women who just won't listen and don't care if they get pregnant again and again, unfortunately. But wouldn't it be great if they got really good sex education in school instead of waiting for them to get pregnant and have to decide on an abortion? Something more informative than "just say no"?

I have heard of pro-life clinics that show horrible videos about abortion and often they are used as scare tactics. But, I am sure that many abortion clinics do have women go through classes to insure that they are making an educated decision that will drastically change their lives both physically and emotionally. Also, I would assume that this is done for liability issues (afterall, we do live in a "sue happy" world). Personally, I am pro-choice and I feel that women deserve to know what will happen to their bodies and their fetuses during these procedures. Abortion isn't pretty or fun, but, these women need to know that what they are doing will be done by a professional and in a clean and sterile environment and not in some dark alley.

I completely agree that safe sex should be taught. But as for the previous poster, it's not the school's responsibility to teach the children about safe sex, it's the parents' responsibility. Abortion shouldn't be used as birth control, and people need to learn that. Why not prevent the unwanted pregnancy in the first place and just use birth control and condoms? Parents really need to realize that they need to teach their children about safe sex rather than wasting their time complaining that the schools don't teach it. The schools educate the children so that they can go on to college and then a career. It's not the schools' job to educate the children about sex. Many parents complain that someone outside of the home tries to teach their children about sex, while others complain that the schools don't. Anyway, I do agree with the asker of the question, safe sex should be the arguement

I've never heard of that, and it does sound like they are going too far. If a person has chosen to have an abortion I would imagine it was a difficult decision so seeing pictures of what happens certainly isn't going to help their guilt. For sure they should be educated on preventing pregnancy so it doesn't happen again, but that sounds just awful to use such scare tactics. Sounds more like an anti abortion clinic to me.

I"ve not heard of a class you have to take, but alot of place (never had one this is all hearsay) will make you wait 72 hours and go through a one time counseling session.
I think that the counseling and waiting period is a good thing but classes showing what the baby goes through no thats alittle much.

The only places that require a gruesome class are faith based, like BirthRight. Planned Parenthood and clinics dont require them. No, I don't think they prevent anything.
