My suggestion is to take your dog to the vet immediately. If your animal is in the respiratory distress that you have written here, the vet office will see you IMMEDIATELY. It will not hurt you or your beloved dog to wait in the office until the appointed time and you will be right there in their view if your dog goes into further distress. If your dog is seen immediately, other pet owners will understand. They would want their beloved pet treated the same way. The one with the GREATEST NEED gets seen first, THEN first come, first serve.

I had a kitten that was in repiratory distress. My appointment was 3 hours later. I KNEW she would be dead in that timeframe. I went in immediately. As soon as I walked in the door and they took a glance at her, the kitten was bumped to the front of the line.

Please keep us informed as to what happens with your dog. I will be saying prayers on behalf of you and your beloved dog.

Best of Luck and Health!

It is good that you have contacted a vet. Keep in mind that vet hospitals are very very swamped on weekends with emergency and non-emergency situations. It isn't that they do not care about your dog, they are just willing to look at him a little later than you would have liked.

If you described the dog's symptoms to the vet over the phone, and they gave you the appointment you have, chances are your dog is not in a state of total emergency. Vets do not generally refuse immediate treatment to dogs in dire need, and so you dog can probably stand to wait a few hours before being treated.

Try calling the vet again and asking them if there is anything you can do for your dog. They may have some good advice as to how you can keep him as comfortable as possible.

Good luck!

Ok calm down. You dog may be having a reaction to the meds. PeptoBismal was not the greatest thing to give your dog and that could be the cause of his stomach upset. It works for some dogs but not all.
Just let your dog drinkwater and then take him to the vets. Lyme is very serious and can cause many symtoms including the lack of leg function. It is much better to bring him back in and then see what they have to say. Also ask the vet for what is right to give for an upset stomach. OK

Best of luck!

My mom is a vet and I think i can help!

My dog had lymes disease and the same thing happened!

U have to sit near him and just pet him for company and he'll be fine! Also if he can drink lots of fluids and no food. U want to settle the stomach not start it up. (Probably why he threw up!) Keep an eye on him and remember dont pick him/her up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope i helped!! :)

Good Luck and i am sorry for the dog!

Lyme disease can cause these symptoms and it may linger. You said you took him to the vet? He should have been given antibiotics. I would just show up at the vets with him if he was that bad. Or call another vet, isn't there another in your area? Mine will our pets in 15mins for emergency, they charge more but whatever.

For the future, find another vet. And please, have your dog vaccinated for this, they have prevention for that. My dogs get a shot in the spring for Lyme.

I would go ahead and leave to take him. When you get there early and they see him they should take him right on back. Its worth a shot all they can say is wait and that way if something really bad happens or he worsens you will be at the vet! Goodluck

Go to the vet NOW! I can't see them allowing a dog to create some disturbing actions with their customers.
