Mark When my son was severely burned, I did not pray. Instead I asked all my friends (many of them on the internet) to think positive thoughts. It worked. I do not have room to go into detail here but to sum it up. My son is considered a medical miracle. The doctors and medical students wrote about him in the American Medical Journal. That was 7 years ago.

A friend of mine called in an Indian Medicine man and he provided various applications that I also attribute to my son's miraculously recovery.

Well people can pray to get the power to "do" something, instead of praying to get something handed to them... so its the same as positive thinking.... mmmm....

There are two types of prayers:
Prayers of Supplication:
this is where we ask and or demand this, that, and the other, like a child making a list for santa to fulfill.
Prayers of Affirmation:
this is having faith that whatever needs to happen will, and we just say thank you...let it go and know that all will be ok.

I am sure that prayers of Affirmation is most closely related with the power of positive thought. It is a well known fact that positive thoughts return positive results....either way, prayer is a way of communicating with the god of an individuals personal understanding. And we still have to take the action required for any results.

Blessings to you and yours!

There's a lot of differences between the two, but here are some: -John Cena gets to display his wrestling ability more often -John Cena has lost matches when he's told to -John Cena is not a politician -John Cena's character is more realistic than Hogan's And yes, Hulk Hogan would get a similar reaction. However, he actually did on many occasions. Look up his feud with Sid Justice or even some of his feuds as a face in late-WCW.

Well I guess prayer as a Christian is like asking for a hand out! We didn't deserve Christs diing on the cross for our sins. Yet, we pray and think Him for it, this Gift. This "Handout." So while you say that "positive thinking is haveing enough confidence in yourself that you can do anything." I say that my thinking should be that having confidence in Christ and thinking what would Christ have me do, I could do all that is expected of me. I would consider any "positive thinking" on my behalf as being insightfulness to what a Christian should be. I just wouldn't want to think that any positive thinking is a result of my own thought, but via the wisdom of Christ. Not saying that this is how i am always but this would be more towards my ideal.

It depends on what one expects from prayer. I'm not much on prayer for myself, but I can see it being used as a source of strength in difficult times when nothing else seems to help. It's an old saying that "there are no atheists in foxholes". After all, what harm can a prayer do if it looks like you are about to die?

If you allowed a Indian medicine men come into your son's room to perform his rituals, then you just stab yourself in the back, You try to condem prayers, & think that only positive thing can do it all & you need no one to pray, Then what happen to you when that medicine man came to your son's room, Did you tell him, No thank You, I am thinking positive, Think about it, what happen to your positive thinking.

prayer works better ; it gives you positive thinking knowing that the one who created everything and provides for us will assist us when we ask; he answers prayers in his time and in his way ; usually it it better than I could have ever imagined it or wanted it to be; each time that is happens and it has happened many times in my life, I am so amazed that it is really unnerving because it is a feeling like someone pulled the rug out from beneath you; it is so extraordinary and just reaffirms that which I already know but didn't even think that it could be that grand; the best positive thinking comes from knowing that you have the greatest protector ever, the most love that ever can fill a heart beyond what you think you know and the blessings beyond your wildest expectations; That is God!

Prayer has worked for me all of my life. Prayer is NOT asking for "a hand out." God helps those who help themselves.

Praying is having enough confidence in yourself that you know God will help YOU to find answers and to do anything.

I disagree with you on many levels.

Prayer is simply your outer ego trying to communicate with the real inner self. It is not looking out into the camouflage of daily life but rather looking inward to see if you are on the path of growth you need to be on.

Prayer is talking to God. Prayer includes praise, gratitude and petition. Prayer involves more than just asking for a hand out.
