When I was younger, I really didn't like thunder & lightning storms. Generally speaking the younger we are, the better our hearing....they use to really hurt my ears!

Then at 13, I got meningitis, and lost half of my hearing. They stopped bothering me after that, and just became something cool to watch.

It depends on how bad the storm is. I live on a farm in the high mountain desert area of Idaho. Sometimes I'm outside, checking animals, and calming them, during sudden, and violent storms.

A lot of times this means dropping some nice tastey alfalfa hay for the animals to eat (nothing calms an animal down better than when it's stuffing it's face).

I either want the livestock (9 horses & 100 goats) to move to the middle of the pasture, or seek refuge in their wooden shelters.

I'm trying to keep them away from all irrigation lines, and the fences. Animals that shelter near fence lines are in the most danger of electrocution if lightening strikes the fenceline.

Then I go back into the house, and watch from inside. The danger of electrocution is very real for farmers who spend a lot of time outside, near or on metal equipment.

By the way thunder and lightning storms are cool to watch, but they don't hold a candle to THUNDER SNOW! Nope I'm not making it up! Up here with the combination of being in the mountains and the desert, we usually get thunder snow once a winter. Thunder snow is so cool.

It's usually snowing so hard, you can bairly see 15 feet, and then the snow will "light up" with the lightning, and you will hear the sound of thunder a few minutes later. Thunder snow is my favorite.

P.S. It's the howling 80mph wind storms we get several times a year I find creepy.

Depends on the storm. Like to watch the spectacular lightning from the window but hate the thunder. Living in an area that gets tornados, if the sky turns green and the wind starts howling, I have been known to head for the basement rec room.

I like watching through the window. If your neighbours are outside I hope they don't stand barefoot under a tree. There is a danger that the lightning may prefer to travel through their bodies than along the ground, finding the path of least resistance to the clouds!

Most thunder and lightning storms are quite pretty to look at. I like to watch them if I can.

I was on holiday two weeks ago in Tunisia and they had the worse storm i ever seen. It was electrical lighting (purple) right above our hotel. I was scared incase it did damage or palm trees to fall over and cause damage. The waves were boucing so hard against the cliffs. The whole place was flooded and cars was floating down the street. never seen anything like it.

I live my life as if it doesn't affect me, because it doesn't. I would not however, stand out in the garden and test fate. People are struck by lightning all the time and standing out in the garden is asking for it, in my opinion.

I watch those storms. I think they are great. I've been watching them all my life. I'm not much of a chicken little. I guess we need a law against people like your neighbors and I.
