My hubbby is a marine. He wanted to get me a wrist corsage to wear the the ball. In my opinion, it is a sweet idea. However, I have came across "rules" for the ball on the internet that say it is not a good idea. These rules wer enot made by the Marine Corps (probably a wife or girlfriend).

WEAR the wrist corsage! I was in the military for years and years, and it is completely appropriate to wear a corsage to a formal function! : )

And BTW - any person can write a blog and pretty much write whatever they want in it - so don't believe everything you see or read, or hear! : )

: ) Have fun, sweetie! : )

I would get a wrap to wear with it. I think the back is too revealing for a marine ball. The front is fine though. That or find something else. I know it would be nice to use the dress again though after spending so much on it to wear it only once. Your SOs higher ups and such will be there and you don't want to give a bad impression.

If the rules were not made by the marines, you don't have to abide by them. You are not a marine, and the hosts of the ball didn't say not to wear it, so do what you want to do. Anyone who actually cares- IF anyone cares- will probably be the type of marine wife that you don't want to be like anyways, the kind that for some strange crazy reason think that they even remotely share their husband's rank.

Is there a rule against it? No. Are people going to be shrewish? Possibly. It's not the prom, after all.

You're going to stand out, and that's not a good idea at an event where cattiness is already at a peak.

I did Google the phrase "Marine Ball" in quotes with the word "corsage" after the quotes...only 9 hits. If this was a popular thing, it would be referenced more.

If you were a Marine and going in uniform then no you shouldn't as you would be out of uniform. Otherwise, if you want to then do it; too many military wives have their own ideas or opinions about what is correct and proper for social activities but the honest truth is if he wants you to do it and you want to do it then it doesn't matter what other wives think about it. As stated previously the only wife who would get upset about it would be the ones that confuse their spouses rank as being theirs and they are wrong and a pain in the ###.

YOU are allowed to wear anything in good taste> Your Marine will look GOOD with YOU on his arm! Thank You for your contribution to this Great Nation. This is not said enough in my opinion, to the wifes and loved ones of our Armed Forces. A Sharp Hand Salute to you from this Marine!

it is not appropriate. Marine Corps balls are more formal events than high school Proms.

As long as he doesn't wear it, do what you want to do.
