It's pretty simple...you don't have a choice unless you've mastered time travel.

Well, there's no point in living in the past. What's done is done and you can't go back and change it. Worrying about the future too much is pretty much a waste of time because it isn't here yet. So, following my line of thinking, the present is the only thing you have some control over so it seems more logical to live in it.
It can be as hard or as simple as you allow it to be.

Living in the NOW is not easy - it is much easier to live in the past because you have already been there and know the outcome - dealing with things directly in your face means you have to THINK clearly and ACT properly. You have to be on your toes all the time and be ready to handle ANYTHING in the NOW.

Living in the PAST keeps you from achieving anything in the NOW. When you are always looking BACK, what is in front of you is clouded - unclear - dangerous - you will not be able to deal with it as best as you COULD - and SHOULD. You CANNOT grow, mature, and learn - you stagnate and grow mold instead.

It is like driving a car - - you cannot move FORWARD, if you have the car in REVERSE. You will WASTE plenty of gas (energy) and never GO anywhere.

It is not easy to live in the NOW - but you HAVE TO in order to truly LIVE and be HAPPY. It IS worth the effort!!!!!

It's simple, yet difficult. We are so used to reacting from the past and hoping for better things to come in the future, we forget to live in the moment. We must find a balance because if we only live in the moment, we are not learning from our mistakes nor are we guiding our future for how we want to live...but remember the only thing we surely have is right now.

To live in the present you have to have worked through your baggage so that you can be in the moment without negative emotions from the past clouding your perceptions, and without hope and fear for future events distorting what's happening now. Not easy to get there!! But simple when you arrive.

Sometimes living in the "now" can be difficult. The past tends to creep in to our thoughts, whether that be past errs or behaviours. The future is always a question and sometimes just never comes.
Being your best, today, in the now is not only the best spiritual excercise it's also the most productive.
That doesn't mean we don't work on our spiritualism without thought of the future and that we should not learn from the past.

First, it means being able to give it to God and let loose of the trials of the past. That in itself can be very hard for most people.
Secondly, you've still got to learn from the past and be smart not to repeat your mistakes.

After you can master those things I would think it would be very simple. Just takes a little while to learn how to do it.

Do not live simple. You will not get the best of the world. Simple people are timid people or with little knowledge. They are short sighted people. Speak without thinking and always get into trouble with others. Always being used by the wise. In short they are idiots.

Living in the present moment is more than not dwelling in the past, or thinking of the future.
It is a real discipline and undertaking.
