Do you think it is a form of child abuse to force a young girl to have a baby that was conceived in rape? Would it not be more humane to make sure that she has a DNC right after the rape or an abortion as soon as pregnancy is confirmed?

When a 10 - 16 year old child is raped and becomes pregnant, to force her to have the baby is child abuse, in my opinion.

In black and white reality, forcing a child to have a child condemns two children -- the one forced to have the child, and the baby conceived in rape.

Recovering from rape is hard enough as it is. It's horrible for an adult. Think how hard it has to be for a child! Add to that being forced to carry a baby conceived through such violent means.

It will ruin the life for the girl forced to carry this baby.
It will ruin the life of a child who finds out that he/she was conceived through such a gross and disgusting act of violence.

So much for the sanctity and the dignity of life idea.

I am a teacher. have taught 2 little girls who were raped and were made to have the baby.

One was raped by her father.

One was raped by a cousin.

I am a Christian.

This is something I feel very strongly about. I firmly believe in abortion in ALL cases of rape, but especially if a little girl is raped. Just because she is having periods does not mean that she has the emotional and mental maturity to be a mom.

No, I do not teach any of my students that two wrongs make a right. We do not discuss sex or religion in my classes.

I asked an honest question.

I am not "beating a dead horse" at all.

This has been on my mind, and I wanted to get opinions.

don s, this is not the same as euthanasia or "killing people at a nursing home." I AM A Christian, and I resent your saying I am not.

God bless you.

yes, forcing a child to have a baby that resulted from a rape is both immoral (and possibly illegal)

I don't know if this can be considered child abuse, but I don't think it's right. A child's body is not ready to be a mother's. After the child is born, the mother is much less likely to finish school, get a good job, and be able to nuture the child.

My mother-in-law takes care of foster children. One of the children (she's actually of age now) was raped at 13 and her child is living with her. They are beginning to have a better relationship, but the child is still a reminder of the horrible act. Luckily, they're in a good home environment and the now adult rape victim is going to college.

I can tell you a really great story on why you should never listen to the idiots who say you should never abort a child concieved during a rape ...

My stupid *** listened to everyone after I was drugged and raped at 14 ... My mother refused to allow me to have an abortion because SHE would feel bad forever. And for some unknown reason I convinced myself that this was true and adoption would be great.

So at 9 months I went into labor. And listening to my mother went w/o pain killers... I was in labor for 36 hrs, broke my pelvis all to have a stillborn. So now not only was it **** for me .. Imagine the poor people who were waiting for that baby....

Now that I wants kids I'm being told that there was so much damage done that I'll probably have to have invitro but they doubt it will work and I will just continue to miscarry ...

So yes you are right ... But there are those who are so up their own *** with ridiculous beliefs and you'll never change that....

Is this a question or a political statement?
I'll pretend that you actually want an answer.

It may be a difficult thing or not the best thing, but it is not abuse.

Consider some parallels. If your child were blinded during play, would it be abuse to force the child to live their life blind?

If the child had a sibling that was extremely bad, is it abuse to make them live in the same home?

On the other hand, how does ending the life of someone (not something) that had no part or say-so in the events make things right? And won't that be the worst kind of abuse, physical death?

The point is, life is not fair, life is what it is and we have to make the best of it. The individuals that committed such heinous crimes should be punished in the most permanent way possible.

I really do sympathize, but if I had been the child of a rape victim, I would be extremely glad that she endured that pain and carried me full-term.

I agree. Putting a child through a pregnancy forced on them in the first place is wrong.

I disagree that it's guaranteed to ruin the lives of both, as it is possible to heal -- usually with professional help.

But I don't think anyone should be forced to carry to term any pregnancy they don't want to.

one could argue that the unborn child is in no way at fault for said rape, he's just a little baby, who's just wanting to live, yet
is the one giving the ultimate sacrifice.

i would be willing to bet a week's pay that there are people alive today that were conceived under bad circumstances, yet STILL be thankful for their own life.

it is the REST of society that shuns victims of rape/molestation victims. once it's made public that jane was raped, she will FOREVER be whispered about at parties. like shes damaged goods. to me all the janes out there are survivors, not people to be pitied, or stigmatized.

Yes it is a form of child abuse. An adult woman typically has a very hard time psychologically handling the trauma of a rape and a child doesn't have anywhere near that type of coping ability yet. To add to the trauma is cruel and in the 21st century we should be beyond such barbarism.

Yes it is abuse I would say to make them have the child. I believe all the screaching about abortion is a misguided goal in the first place. Abortion is not mentioned in the bible specifically and Jewish people (God's people) did not consider a child a child until it took it's first breath. Furthermore, many babies died in childbirth. Granted the fetus has hands, feet, etc........and this makes people act crazy it's a human it's human they scream ........technically God is concerned about souls.......spirits and considers our bodies a tent whether they are young or old. The freaking out over abortion is a humanistic concept and the outrage does not come from God........God is more concerned with the condition of people's souls. He knew David in his Mother's womb because David was filled with God's spirit in the womb. Not all babies are filled with God's spirit in the womb so that scripture has no bearing on the situation. worshipping a fetus and not considering the person who is bearing the fetus and saying that is God's will is simply ridiculous. God is no respector of persons. He cares about the woman who was raped yes,,,,,,,,,loves them wants what is best for them. I don't believe he wants babies born who are unwanted and unloved.........and many are unfortunately. If I had a choice to be aborted or to be born in a family of drug addicts that would let me be raped and molested age 5-7 to get drugs (which happens all the time in the inner city) I would beg God to let me be aborted. I realize this will outrage many Christians but our focus should be saving the souls that are here not petitioning about abortion and homosexuality. Jesus was not a protester about sin when he walked the earth. He went about doing good and "healing all who were oppressed of the devil". That's the work believers should do also. We should use sound Judgement. And what a woman or young girl does with her body (whether she has the child or not) should not be up to someone else.

YOUR CONCERNED ABOUT CHILD ABUSE? LOL

Hey while your at it, why not go down to the nursing home and get rid of a few of those old people who are ruining their children's lives? After all, their just fish laying there in that bed, they wont know any different.Stick a needle in their heads and suck out the steam cells.Maybe you will find a cure for hate and murder. No, forget that.Your looking for a cure for cancer.
This excuse is so old its ridiculous.I realize that it happens, but one in a million abortions are such. But, for someone that would kill a helpless baby, why not use other children to help them with their perversion.

PS>IF YOUR A CHRISTIAN< I am the pope.

I recent the fact that you say you are a christian.Let me remind you that those who believe in Him, also trust in Him and leave these matters in His Hands. He is the One that should be in control of these matters and everyone that says His name believes just that.Rest asured that if God does not want this baby born into this world, it will not happen. He has a purpose and a plain for us all. What you need to do if your any kind of christian at all is start praying for this child and let God do the rest.

There are even some pro-lifers who agree with you. The nature of the argument is that the carelessness in matters of birth control is proliferated by the "back out clause" of abortion. You cant argue a movement by attacking the extremists
