I have become burned out in most aspects of my life: work, relationship, and family, and I'm not sure what to do about it. There has been stress for a long time and overwork and I'm in danger of losing the things that were once important to me. I find I'm not as motivated with the things I used to be passionate about as well and my life feels like it has unraveled.

I am in therapy and couples counseling but just overwhelmed and don't feel like doing anything.

I want to feel vital again, to have goals I care about but I just don't seem to care.

Can you offer any advice on dealing with burnout? I'm concerned because I'm beginning to have destructive thoughts and I need to think about ways I can change my situation.

Make some changes. If the job cannot be changed, can you look at it differently? Can you change jobs within the business or do you need to change places of employment. Talk with your family to see if they also are feeling the burn out and what you might do differently. If you want things to change, you have to do something differently. It will require effort on your part, and if others are interested, they would benefit by trying something different too.

See burnout, and stress treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 42, and immediately reduce your workload, and/or get away for a while, to recharge your batteries. Review your diet, and eat in accordance with your nutritional type, at www.mercola.com TASKBAR. Minimise alcohol use; don't smoke, exercise daily, and take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements daily, replacing 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements, in the winter months. Drink 2 cups of green tea daily, a little sweetener, if desired, but no milk or cream. Have a complete medical checkup (thyroid, adrenals, blood iron, etc.) and use the EFT version for use in public (you can claim a headache), on pages 2, 2.o and 2.q. Practice daily, one of the relaxation techniques on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i.

Use a breathing technique, deep breaths, when you let it out relax your shoulders downward at the same time. Also use visualizations. Visualize yourself somewhere nice.
