Yes. Actual Christianity takes Jesus seriously: We take up our cross and follow him. The gate is narrow. We have to endure to the end. We will be judged by our works.
Bible fundamentalism is a faith-alone cheap substitute. Pray a sinner's prayer and accept Jesus as your personal savior. After that, once in grace, always in grace.
Rather than put on the armor of salvation, we see the fundamentalists putting on more and more armor against the teachings of Christianity--denying the need for baptism, rejecting the Eucharist, idolizing the Bible, saying the Church is unnecessary, or even that it is a satanic plot.
Fundamentalists need to rediscover original Christianity.
Cheers,
Bruce

Bible fundamentalism originally meant living with a biblical world view as opposed to the secular world view. The meaning has changed to portray a cultic way of life - a group of people who isolate themselves, usually strictly obeying their leader unquestioningly, dressing uniformly alike. It seems like they measure their holiness by how severely the rest of the population criticizes them. Doesn't hold any charm for me.

Well, let's look at the real ways to access Heaven and then look at the fundie way. Perhaps that will give us the answer.
1 Peter 3:21 - Baptism now saves you.
John 6:53 - Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
Philippians 2:12 - Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Now, let's look at the fundie way to Heaven:
In order to be saved and go to Heaven, all you have to do is repeat this prayer one time which asks Jesus to live inside your heart. That's it! It's like magic, you are saved!
Of course, you can live however you want and sin as much as you want, and you're still...saved!
So to answer your question, YES, the charm of fundamentalism is an easy way to Heaven.

I'm not 100% sure of the question, but I can tell you the path to heaven is easy to see. Believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins and do Chirst's works, that simple. I think that most of us don't have a problem with seeing the path to heaven but have a problem staying on the path. So yes, the pass is easy to obtain, it's the lifestyle that some can't maintain. But my suggestion is to keep trying, if you stray from the path, ask Christ to forgive you and get back on the path and try and stay on. Have a great day.

I think it's about having easy answers that shelter you from the complexity of reality. We all feel better when we think there's a defined way of doing things and fundamentalism offers just that.

The "charm" as you put it of bible fundamentalism is the idea that they and (only they) are right. And everybody else that doesn't agree with them is wrong. EVERYBODY.
Fundamentalism is bad under any circumstances.

Answer: That would be nice if there was charm, but unfortunately there isn't.
Details: Protestantism started with Martin Luther when he asserted that the bible was the sole authority. Simple put, the bible was the word of God and that it interrupts itself. This is a matter of belief and each person must find this belief for himself/herself.
Bible fundamentalism means that the God word as revealed through the prophets is the corner stone (core) of an individual life. It is the first place that a Christian looks for everyday living and it not subject of debate.
We can not talk about Bible fundamentalism without talking about some of its content. Within the pages of the bible, we find that God keeps His promise by sending a redeemer Jesus Christ, who lives, died, and he raised from the dead. Jesus lives and sits at the right hand side of God. We know this from the four accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke that includes Acts and John).
The way towards God is through Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the life. Moreover, the kingdom of God is not of this world. The bible also reveals that God is spirit where man is body, soul and spirit. We worship God in spirit and in truth. We hope for eternal life.
These are some of fundamentals; there are many others most notably "born again", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Kingdom of God".
Regarding Heaven, Heaven is where God is and Hell is where God isn't. We are on earth where the ruler of earth is not God. The Kingdom of Heaven is not on the earth, but the Kingdom of God is within every Christian, “Christ in you.” God revealed very little in His bible about Heaven, but the goal of every Christian is to be with God, the God who is Heaven.
The bible has many examples of how to deal with people. The most notably is "Love your neighbor as yourself". The standards are high, but they are definitely there.
One last point: The duty of every Christian is to teach to all nations, not to convert everyone. In this effort to teach, some have allied with political agendas and causes, matters of this world. Christian goals are not of this world because the Kingdom of God is not.

The Raven nice way to put. A I like your Answer!! I couldn’t stop laughing. Bruce that is very good point faith alone and the twisted bible interpreted from original bible in Greek. It is very dangers that teaching for them which “Pray a sinner’s prayer and accept Jesus as your personal savior. After that, one in grace, always in grace.” I bet a lot they don’t need to go to church because they are saved they only need to repeat phrase to feel gooooood about themselves. When others are sinning a lot, after feeling bad then they like to go back their church to affirm beliefs, cry, faint or feel good, and made feel right. Most of them need to keep going to avoid feeling bad need those long hours of serves to be brain washed. I had a friend who stopped going to fundamentalist church because he finally realized it.

you mean, the deceit?
yes, it is. that's how they gain more followers. they promise easy access to heaven, which is wrong because there's no such thing as easy way to heaven. and yes, those fundies use the love-bomb technique to attract the weaklings into joining their club. there's really no depth in their ways, but sadly many people fall prey into their pettiness.

Probably partly. I know a Catholic Priest who used to be Protestant and studying to be a minister. We asked him what it was like and he said laughing "it was great! We were all so happy! We were saved!"
