The only way for the stigma of mental illness to be got rid of is by educating those who stigmatize others. Not understanding or wanting to know may be the fear issue. Stigma has been obvious for centuries and so it cannot go in 5 minutes. To make a start, is to be open about the illness, explain the suffering and that people who suffer are not all axe murderers but genuine people who have fallen under the pressures of life. Those who want to make a joke of those who suffer mentally usually have issues themselves that they have not addressed. Never let anyone make you feel you are less of a person because your mind has been troubled that have needed help. I can assure you if they suffer in there lives you will be the first one they come to for help, because of your experiences.
